Kodiak K9 Training

Audrey has been a God-send. Over just three weeks, Audrey laid an incredible foundation for a successful life with our pup. Ollie is a 9-12 month mixed lab retriever whirlwind. He was peeing all over the house, stealing anything he could grab the moment our backs were turned, barking at foxes and people at all hours, and counter surfing for grapes, which landed him at the emergency vet for two days. Audrey gave Ollie structure, clear expectations, and confidence, and she gave us an education on how to continue to reinforce the work at home. Walks, visitors, and daily life are no longer chaotic, but enjoyable. What a relief, and we are having a great time with Ollie!

We sent our 8 month old pit bull/lab mix to be trained by Audrey for three weeks and it was the best decision we’ve made. He is an incredibly anxious dog and I was especially nervous for him but Audrey immediately put both of us at ease. He took to her quickly and she was very patient with him. We were a bit worried that he would lose his goofy personality after going through the rigorous training but he’s still the same sweet, silly little guy he was only now with much more discipline and boundaries. Audrey worked with him on his social anxiety, exposure to new people, dogs, and places, and also obedience training with entering/exiting, place, loose leash walking, etc. She gave us invaluable information and trained us just as much as our dog, making sure we felt well equipped to continue his training at home. We would recommend Kodiak K9, specifically Audrey, to anyone in a heartbeat.

She was incredibly attentive throughout the process and worked patiently with our puppy to build a strong foundation in all the basic commands. We highly recommend Kodiak K9 to anyone looking for real training results for their dog, while also wanting excellent treatment for both the dog and the owners. We took the decision of choosing a board and train very seriously. We read a lot of Reddit reviews for schools in the DMV area, carefully compared Google reviews, talked to more than five schools, and looked closely at pricing, training style, and overall client experience. Kodiak K9 really stood out to us, both because of the genuine recommendations we found and because of how professional and thoughtful they were from the very first call. When we first contacted the school, we spoke with Brad, who was incredibly helpful in understanding our needs and recommending the right trainer. Our dog, Barty, had crate training issues, so we wanted an environment that would be the right fit for him. We also wanted a trainer with strong qualifications, including police dog training experience, and Kodiak K9 was very transparent about their trainers’ backgrounds. We even interviewed a couple of trainers before deciding to go with Micah, and that turned out to be a wonderful choice. Micah was phenomenal with Barty. Since this was the first time he had ever been away from us for that long, it was very important to us that he be in good hands. During the three-week board and train, Micah sent us multiple updates every day, which gave us so much peace of mind. She also picked Barty up for free at the start, which helped us a lot because we did not have a car at the time. When Barty came home, Micah spent hours answering our questions and teaching us how to maintain everything he had learned. She also gave us a beautiful picture of Barty with a note saying he was trained by her, which was such a thoughtful touch. Most importantly, the results were phenomenal. Barty now heels beautifully, no longer barks in his crate or when left alone, and we now have a much better way of communicating with him through the tools and training Micah taught us. Of course, board and train is not magic, and there is a maintenance component afterward, but the progress has been truly outstanding. We are extremely happy with our experience with Kodiak K9, Brad, and especially Micah. We felt supported throughout the process, and the results exceeded our expectations.
