Kaye Ames People Training For Dogs

I submitted an inquiry on a 5-week training course and stated I had 4 training goals (leave it, drop it, loose-leash walking, and a reliable recall). I asked if those tasks would be taught and received an email enrolling me in the class so I assumed they would be taught. The class was taught by Teri and we did not cover those skills (except for a week of walking by stationary toys to learn "leave it" which was not effective). The sessions ran from approximately 6:05-6:10 to 6:45 (i.e., this is not an hour-long class) and at least the last 5 minutes were just the trainer telling stories. When I specifically asked about how to work on "drop it" she advised me to "hold on to the other end of the toy until the dog lets go." That made my dog's behavior worse, and certainly won't work if he picks up something disgusting other than a toy. All in all, this course was not a good use of my time or money.

We got a douberman puppy in 2023 and kaye and ames was reasonably priced and seemed to be a great fit for us and our family! Cleo learned well and we learned some new tricks along the way as well! My only issue is that our most recent class we didn't recieve our dogs little paper and I've tried to contact the staff via email and haven't heard anything. It's a little frustrating but overall a great facility with wonderful women running it!

I worked with Laurie. She didn’t have the knowledge that was needed to train a dog . One example is that I told her that my dog didn’t bark when someone came to the door, and I asked how I could get him to bark . She said some dogs aren’t meant to be guard dogs, and that was it. She didn’t seem to know how to teach a dog how to bark when someone knocks at a door. So, I had to teach my dog myself to bark when someone came. Also, as one more example, she seem to have a hard time getting her own dog to listen at times . I had a couple of more zoom classes to go and she wanted me to come in to a class and charge me more money. So, I quit a couple of classes early, and I am going with someone else. I don’t know if the other trainers that are there are more knowledgeable, or not. I only worked with Laurie.
