I'm a paranoid pet parent and someone who demands a lot from anyone caring for or training my animals. With that being said, Randi is of the few people I would entrust my pets with. Her knowledge, advice, and wisdom is what created a strong foundation for my family dog's behavior when he was younger. He's gotten a bit leaky in some places but that's our fault for not being as consistent as we should with his training. However, because of the quality foundation Randi helped him establish, I know we can get right back into healthier behaviors. (And I know exactly who to call if we need a little bit of help. 😉) I'm so incredibly grateful for all of the experience, support, and kindness that Randi has provided to my family and our dog. She has helped not only our 5 year old gsp learn, and become more confident and reliable, but she also paved the way for us to successfully continue his training for the future. We did both in home and day training with Randi, and I am very happy we chose both. I know our dog, Fisher, has formed a bond with her and was always well taken care of in her care. I had acquired my German Shepherd, Dean, when he was 8 weeks old back in October 2024. I had goals for him to not only be our family dog, but also to compete with in IGP. We had a successful first year of puppyhood for the most part, but when he turned 1 year old, we really began to struggle with the big emotions and behaviors that come with a ‘teenage’ dog. While he was thriving in learning all of the dog sport obedience, our relationship at home and off the field wasn’t the best. I was struggling with instilling boundaries and leadership with him because while he loved me, he did not respect me – and some of the skillsets I was using with him were not being productive. I realized I needed help ASAP. When I began looking for a dog trainer to help us, it was of the utmost importance to me to find a trainer who shared the same mindset: while working dogs most certainly do need a job and an outlet and we enjoy doing dog sports with them, we also want balance at home and for them to be part of the family and day-to-day life. My goal was to find a trainer who understood that balance and could help us achieve it, and Randi’s training methods and goals checked all the boxes. During our consultation, Randi witnessed firsthand the chaos Dean caused in our home. He was barking incessantly in his crate, to the point where he had slid the crate across our living room floor and grabbed a hold of a fake Christmas tree branch and ripped it up. If that wasn’t evidence how much we needed help, I don’t know what is! We agreed that day to do a 4-week board and train with Randi beginning in December 2025. During his stay, Randi checked in with us daily with updates, letting us know how he handled new situations and challenges, and she sent us photos and videos. Through his training we learned what best works for him and how he learns and what skills and tools he needs to succeed. We hear a lot in the dog sport world, “Train the dog in front of you”, which essentially means focus on the dog you currently have in front of you and meet what they need at that time to be successful. Every dog is different, every dog needs something different, dog training isn’t cookie cutter – especially when it comes to a working dog – and Randi far exceeded our expectations for getting Dean back on track. Dean is now 6 months post-training program, and he’s excelling so much. He can exist in the home much more calmly than before, and he has a LOT more clarity of expectations. Day by day he’s becoming the enjoyable dog I always wanted, and Randi made that possible. Even post-training program, Randi is always willing to answer any questions I have about odd behaviors if they crop and how I should address them based on Dean’s training so we don’t have any setbacks. I always enjoy sending her pictures and videos of the “wins” we have out in the real world too. She truly loves her work and helping improve the lives of dogs and their families!
