K9 Heeling

I cannot recommend K9 Heeling - for any service - enough! Quick-to-the-point review: trust them with your pet for daycare, grooming, and/or training - they go above and beyond for you and your pet! Especially if your dog is sensitive to being groomed, try bringing them to K9 grooming. Even if your dog has had several trainers before, bring them to K9 training. Most definitely if you're a clingy dog parent with separation anxiety when you leave your pet - bring them to K9 boarding! Full story review: I have a 1yr10mo old Samoyed who we have dedicated lots of time to training - both at home, with trainers who would come to our house and work with her, to group classes x3 levels. Despite this, she never acted "well-trained". We read books, watched youtube videos, talked with anyone we could... all to little/no success. She'd learn another trick here or there, but ultimately, she was still hyperactive, chased the cat/squirrels outside, yanked our arms off with the leash, jumped on any person she could with excitement... it goes on. When my husband and I moved to the Salisbury area, we heard about K9, met Mitch, and through his confidence in their ability to train our dog, we decided to give trainers another go. Best. Decision. Ever. Our dog is now the princess we've always addressed her as: patient, calm, listens to commands, doesn't jump on guests, doesn't chase our cat, enjoys long walks off leash. We are so thankful for the change K9 brought out in her (and us - they taught us how to effectively communicate with our dog!), that it has deeply strengthened our relationship with her. Our options for future adventures with her are endless now! We also bring our dog in for grooming at K9, and Jenni is amazing! Given that the Samoyed breed has a very long fluff double coat, we've actually experienced prior groomers either groaning when they hear she needs a full service bath or would just flat out refuse to groom her. Our dog had previously always come home from the groomers so traumatized, that our normally happy-at-everything dog would want alone time in her crate to feel safe. It broke our hearts to see, so we resorted to buying the industrial blow dryer and bathing/fur trimming/nail cutting her ourselves. It's not an easy task though, and we didn't do it great 😅 So - again - we decided to give K9 grooming a try when we first moved to the area and the difference is mind blowing! Firstly, Jenni/K9 grooming is willing to wash our dog first with the low-shed shampoo, and then again with the bright white shampoo! Her patience is truly out-matched. Secondly, our dog had stepped on a burr one day - we took her to the vet... thought it was all taken care of. We brought our dog later on to Jenni/K9 for grooming, warned her the paw was red from an old burr injury, yet Jenni found (unlike our vet!) that the burr was still in her foot causing the wound to stay open! Jenni took out the burr, cleaned it, put ointment on it and had it wrapped lightly. She performed better wound care than our vet! Definitely nothing we would have expected, but it shows how much they care. Thirdly, our dog LOVES Jenni/K9. She has no issues with being groomed anymore, because Jenni is so loving and kind to her! If your dog is sensitive to groomers, definitely try bringing her to K9. Lastly, I over-love on my dog, and always struggle to leave her. My husband and I travel a lot though, so it is inevitable that we leave her at times. But K9's entire staff are such genuinely kind-hearted people, who also send IG updates on the dogs, making it a no-brainer to leave our dog with K9. Our dog would probably prefer to live at K9 if I'm being honest, because she has such a blast with the staff and other dogs! 😆

Our experiences with K9 Heeling have been nothing short of life-changing. That might sound hyperbolic, but it’s true. This business runs like a well-oiled machine, only one that cares. It is the Cadillac of dog facilities and training programs, and yet it’s affordable. This is my boy Stash. Every Mon, Tues & Thurs, he rolls up to K9, sticks his head out the window, announces his arrival with full-on hound sounds, and then proceeds to have the time of his life as part of the DayPlay program, an ingenious program that celebrates socializing and reinforces his training. I cannot say enough about the staff who are kind and professional, and who love my dog like their own. Kudos to Mitch the owner and Thank You, K9 Heeling 🐕 🙏!!!!

Say the words "play day" in my home on Tuesdays, and my chocolate lab, CocoPuff, goes crazy! she knows she is off for another day of fun, play and some behavior lessons. Everyone of the staff members at K9 Heeling is so helpful and you can feel the love they have for the doggies. K9 is very well organized for the drop off and pick up of cocopuff. it is a great service to offer...complete with photos and a report card letting me know what K9 worked on with CocoPuff that day.
