K-9 Companions Nashville has been such a blessing in Ellie’s training journey. Their team not only brings professionalism and expertise, but they also genuinely care about their work and the impact it has on people’s lives. Ellie has learned vital service tasks like retrieving items, opening and closing doors, and even pushing automatic door buttons. Watching her grow through their guidance has been incredible. They’ve taken the time to ensure she’s equipped for her role, and their attention to detail is unmatched. Ms. Karen and her team are unbelievably amazing. They are training our poodle puppy, Rad, to be our daughter’s autism service dog. The amount of skills he has already learned is mind blowing. During the first boarded part of his training (3 weeks) they sent updates almost daily. He was well taken care of and obviously enjoyed being there. He still has about 18 months left of his service dog training but I can 100% say I do not regret our decision to choose K-9 Companions. Regarding the service dog training itself: Many places I researched/contacted cost double to triple what K-9 Companion does, required you to get a dog they chose, and you often didn’t see the dog until after the training was complete. At that time you would get, maybe, a 2 week crash course on how to be the handler. Ms. Karen’s philosophy is the opposite. She does not “crash course” anything. The most important factor is she trains YOU, the handler, consistently throughout the 2 year long training. Training the dog is important but training the handler is the most critical aspect of the process, something that seems to be often lost with other organizations. On another note, if your child has the Katie Beckett grant (or something equivalent) she knows exactly how to document and what is needed so you can get reimbursed for everything. I cannot recommend them enough for both obedience and service dog training. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👍🏼👍🏼 10/10

Took our girl, Piper, for level 1 training at the end of May. Before going, walks with her were the equivalent of a full upper body workout. She reacted to EVERYTHING! Pulled almost nonstop. She didn't listen very well at home either. She tested every limit and pushed a lot of buttons. She is a very sweet girl, but was almost impossible to control. After her 3 week intensive training at K9 Companions, she was a completely different dog! She is enjoyable on walks, and doesn't try to chase after everything. She heels, auto-sits when I stop, is a pro at staying, and actually comes (slowly) when commanded. She no longer jumps up on the furniture and doesn't bother her brother anymore (13 year old cat). She is still herself, but MUCH more improved. She is currently preparing to go for level 2 (off leash) training with some pre-therapy dog training. Karen Duet (owner) runs a top-notch facility and is very dedicated to making sure dogs receive the best training. Gracie, Piper's trainer, has done a phenomenal job working with our girl and training us to be better dog parents. 100% recommend to anyone wanting to have a better relationship with their dog!

I don't even know where to begin in complimenting K-9 Companions! 😍 Puppy Jack went off to his boot camp on the way to being my service dog in March 2023. He was a typical, crazy Australian Shepherd puppy and came back a well-adjusted, attentive, obedient, and magnificent adult dog. Imagine sending your messy son who never made his bed, kept his room a mess, and didn't get stuff done. Then imagine having that son home from boot camp with the clean room, tight sheets, and helping around the house. Well, I got the dog version of that when Jack came back. Once I know more specifics about what Jack will need to learn to help with my condition as it progresses, I will get him back to K-9 Companions!
