K-9 Companions Nashville

When I rescued my Border Collie I went to see Karen Duet at K9 Companions in order to get her Potty Trained and to learn some manners. She reminded me that Border Collies need a job and after an evaluation she suggested I look in to training Lola as a Therapy Dog. Nikki trained Lola (and me) and now my life is so FULL. Lola achieved her Canine Good Citizen and got her therapy certification. We were visiting at Veterans Hospital in Nashville until COVID and now we are working with a young girl and her family to conquer her fears. K9 Companions is a wonderful place. They helped Lola and I achieve our goals and became lifelong friends. If you have a dog who needs the basics or if you are looking to accomplish more, this is the place. Ask for Nikki - as far as Lola and I are concerned, she’s the best.

I reached out to Karen inquiring about training, and she was extremely rude in her response to me. Now I know why they have 3.5 stars on Yelp and why people on there mention that she was rude to them! I was a little taken aback as my email was polite, and her response was oddly aggressive. She is unable to do the training I was looking for, which is completely fine and understandable, but it was odd to me the way she responded about it, and I would not have wanted her to take care of my dog. Fortunately there are some other trainers in the area I can contact! I am just leaving this comment as if I was going to have my dog work with someone, I would not choose someone who is rude.

K-9 Companions is a great training service and has done a fantastic job with our standard poodle, Cinder! Karen and the rest of the K-9 Companions family is knowledgeable and patient, making sure we can continue the good behavior at home. They don't do cookie-cutter training either - they've customized Cinder's training to fit his temperament and behavior issues, as well as the service tasks I need him to perform. Whether your pup needs some help with not pulling on a leash while walking, all the way up to service dog training, I would highly recommend K-9 Companions!
