K-9 Academy Dog Training

I've had dogs my whole life. After our old dog had passed last winter and much consideration we decided to get another dog - a pup. We got a shelter dog one week ago. I had researched current training techniques extensively. We've been working very closely with her using positive reinforcement techniques as widely recommended by canine behaviorists and trainers alike. We also wanted to get her socialized with as many humans and dogs asap as recommended. We have taken her to parks, pet stores, etc, letting her meet people and dogs. It's been going very well. In this short time we have had her she has yet to have an accident, and has learned sit, stay, crawl, down, and up. She rides in the car like a dream and loves sleeping in her crate. Tonight we decided to attend Mike's free "puppy play" in Rolla. He put the dogs in small groups into the pen. He took our dog to do the same. She was nervous and had been growling at another puppy and I expressed this to him - he said "let's see how it goes". When she became more nervous about the other dogs (she was being very submissive towards the dogs, trying to follow and hide by Mike for comfort) she began to nip at him in an agressive manner. He did the right thing and stood beside her and then crouched down beside her. Then he asked for her leash. She became more agitated. Instead of saying "ok, come get her, we'll try again next week after you work with her more" or "she needs a behavioral therapist" he grabbed her by the nape of the neck and let her scream it out taking her from the puppy pen to a corner farther away from us. After this domination technique did not work the first few seconds he should have let go, instead he continued to hold her like that, but tighter, pinned to the ground for 15-30 seconds. We got up in shock and *then* he walked her to us while she urinated all over herself. He said "she needs to learn to be ok with being restrained", not letting us take her from him until she quit trying to attack him. I restrain her often as we live together but I have yet to need to grab her by the neck or pin her to the ground. In short, I fear all the training we have done, calmly letting her adjust to her surroundings and all the newness of the world, may have been undone, held back by many months, or perhaps it's a trauma she will always associate with men or dogs - everything we were working so hard to avoid. Mike's website says, "Mike uses only positive reinforcement techniques. . . Mike stays current with the latest dog training methods through his professional organizations and readings". I would firmly disagree. I feel sick to my stomach that I trusted this person with my animal for the short 30 minutes we were there. He live streams these puppy play dates on Facebook but was very quick to delete this one from tonight that showed her. We quickly left. He has not contacted us to apologize or explain.
