K-10 Academy Dog Training

We loved working with Ray on our 2 year old cocker spaniel’s recall, patience, and aggression. We learned just as much if not more than our pup and have seen huge improvements already. Examples include better eye contact, longer duration with stay, easier ability to quiet down and relax his excitement. We really appreciate Ray and Alyda for always being flexible and wonderful to work with too. Highly recommend K-10 if you’re looking to improve your relationship with your canine rooted in mutual respect.

I can’t recommend K-10 Dog Academy highly enough! Ray and Alyda were absolutely instrumental in helping my dog Twyla work through significant fear and anxiety issues. From the very beginning, they understood exactly what Twyla needed and approached her with so much patience, compassion, and skill. They really went above and beyond to help Twyla safely practice just being around new people and unfamiliar environments at her own pace. That kind of thoughtful, real-world exposure made such a difference for her confidence. Ray and Alyda are incredibly knowledgeable, calm, and easy to work with. They always took the time to explain the “why” behind what we were doing, which helped me feel more confident advocating for and supporting Twyla outside of training sessions. The progress she’s made is something I’m genuinely proud of, and I credit a huge part of that to their guidance. One of the pictures below is Twyla at a park that I tried to take her to when I first adopted her from ODR. Back then she was too scared to take more than a few steps from the car. Now, she has the confidence to enjoy so many new places and I can't thank K-10 enough for all their help!

Bonnie’s training at K 10 Academy gave us so much insight into Bonnie’s behavior and how to successfully train her. But “train” isn’t all that’s done- we were “trained” to recognize when Bonnie was anxious or distracted and how well treats and praise were an excellent positive form of rewards to change behavior and help her fit into our family. I worked with Bonnie to prevent her from barreling past me on the stairs. My husband complimented me on how well that worked! Ray and Alyda are excellent and truly understand dog behavior.

Ray was outstanding at helping us with our rescue cattle dog mix! He has been terrific at helping us understand how to manage her high energy, need for mental stimulation, struggles with impulse control, and anxiety. Great at staying adaptable when she would inevitably stop responding to a given training technique. She loves Ray and loves to say hi if we see him while out and about. We've recommended K10 to multiple others that have adopted and had trouble with training. Cannot recommend enough!

We got Marco from Oregon Dog Rescue when he was 4 months old and, somehow, he arrived with pretty good manners and a real love of fetching. So it wasn't bad behavior that prompted us to go to K-10 but just a desire to really strengthen his recall and just connect with him more. K-10 understood immediately where we were coming from and from day one helped us unlock some techniques we simply didn't know. Super patient, super clear, and really positive. A big unlock for me was to stop thinking of treats as a kind of cheat, like a thing you do when you don't have control. Ray pointed out that training is work--your dog is learning new things and is expected to perform. "You don't work for free, do you? Neither should your dog." Really, K-10 taught ME, more than Marco, and I left with all kinds of tools that I use daily. A great experience.
