Best decision we made was starting our puppy raising/training journey with JPK9 Academy. Juan is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, confident and calm. Results are practically immediate. He’s willing to and capable of working with you and your dogs particular needs and your families goals. Juans approach to teaching adults is super effective and positive- it goes without making you feel incapable or helpless!

The best decision we made this past year was adopting our rescue pup, Rory. The second best decision we made this year was hiring Juan as our trainer. Rory came to us with extreme fear-based leash reactivity. She is a 50 pound dog with the bark of a 150 pound dog who could start to react upon seeing a dog 100 feet away. The scenes that she would cause and people’s understandably fearful reactions to them, were very hard on all of us. Between the barking and lunging, it often felt like we were trying to walk a dragon. Rory is a smart dog who had picked up basic obedience quickly and we were hopeful that the leash reactivity would decline as she built confidence and as we continued to socialize her. We also became very dedicated to low intensity trigger training, which helped to a degree, but the big reactions continued and it was clear that we were still missing something in her training.
In January we started looking into trainers who specialize in reactivity, and reached out to JPK9 Academy because of the glowing Google reviews. We ultimately chose to work with them because Juan and his wife Sarah were so easy to communicate with and very transparent as far as their training methods and training packages. It is now June and we have a completely different lifestyle with our dog. Instead of timing our walks to avoid other dogs or worrying about taking her places because of potential run-ins with other dogs, we are able to come and go confidently with Rory in tow. Rory is still overcoming her leash reactivity, but now at the distance of a shared sidewalk as opposed to half a block away. If she does have a reaction, we have the tools to successfully handle the situation and turn it into a teachable moment. Juan’s support has helped Rory grow into a happier more confident pup, and we are absolutely happier, more confident dog parents. We couldn’t recommend JPK9 Academy any more highly. In our eyes, they are the absolute best and we will always be grateful for their patient, thoughtful, and thorough support!

We just boarded out super hyper 10 month old Mini Aussie. Juan and his wife were so good to our boy. He came back home and listens and behaves so much better. We met Juan for a class and I could tell how much my dog liked him. And that is imporrant to me. If you want help training your dog definitely go with Juan. He’s the best in the biz! Thank you Juan for being amazing!!!

Juan has helped me tremendously with my Golden Retriever from the time he was a small puppy to now at two years old. The transformation has been incredible. My dog is much calmer, more responsive, and so much better on a leash. He’s also helped tremendously with reactivity and managing his energy level in a positive way.
Juan is patient, knowledgeable, and truly cares about both the dogs and their owners. The training has made such a difference in our daily life, and I feel so much more confident handling my dog in different situations. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trainer who genuinely gets results!
