I currently own 2 setters from Jornada setter. Both dogs were relatively easy to train as the genetics are there. Both dogs have hunted multiple states and had multiple species of birds shot over them. At home they are great members of the family. Dennis has always been very open and there to help with any questions I’ve had over the years.

Over the past 24 years we have trained and sold over 200 field ready Jornada setters. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of unhappy complaining buyers. All are similar: first, they lack the rudimentary knowledge of bird dog handling. And they never ask for advice which I would readily give to them. <br>In fact Doug has never contacted me. <br>The other noticeable trait is the lack of caring for the young setter. No sign of affection. You must love the animal, if you don’t they feel it and will never have confidence in a person. When Doug threatens to euthanize Nutmeg (our name for this beautiful little setter) on this platform, never contacting us for advise or help handling her-well, that pretty much sums up his attitude. <br>I’m so sad he has her. We loved her and she stayed with us in our home while field training. And she was excellent in her performance. I have five videos of her work, pointing and finding birds and I will share them to anyone on request from our website. <br>My heart is broken for Nutmeg in her unloving, mishandled situation with Doug.

Recently purchased Roy from Dennis Hammitt in addition to behavior issues dog has severe food and environmental allergies which have affected his behavior and general comfort. Dennis made no mention of these conditions. Hard to believe someone who claims to be in tune with good genetics and dog care didn’t know about Roy’s condition. He arrived here under weight and with irritated red skin and scratching which Benadryl would not control. . Testing confirmed allergies. Was told the dog was retriever trained. He is not. Mr Hammitt has blocked us from his FB page, and won’t return phone calls. Advise caution. This is my second dog from Dennis. Do not work on a handshake.

We have owned 2 Jornada Llewellens. Both were birdy,warm, friendly, bidable dogs who were very much in tune with their human pack leaders. I am looking at one currently asleep in the recliner she is sharing with my wife.

We love our girl and are happy to have her in our family! She’s proven to be a wonderful bird dog, good nose, gentle mouth and great disposition, a fearless swimmer and loving member of our family. (She’s on the left) She’ll even swim out and retrieve ducks! Thank you Jordana Setters!

We sold a female puppy to Peter R. Parham on March 7, 2020. The puppy was picked up on that date and a receipt was issued to Peter. This was a litter out of Jornada Stella by Jornada Sam Winston, whelped January 1, 2020. We were late in applying for litter registration on April 28, 2020. Then the Field Dog Stud Book further delayed litter registration not recording it until August 29, 2020. This was a turbulent time with the COVID pandemic and problems caused by it, including obvious problems at the FDSB. I had just hired Ivory and she took over and continues to do all registrations. We actually kept two from this litter and their registration did not occur until January 1, 2021. There is not a late penalty until on one year past whelping. I show no text or emails by Mare requesting registration info, but that may be lost in time.
