I have now obtained a copy of the necropsy report myself and found that results did NOT show evidence of trauma, collar injury at all. Instead, they revealed that Harley had significant brain abnormalities (hydrocephalus with edema and hemorrhage), which are known to cause sudden neurological collapse.<br>On the night he passed, Harley had been resting comfortably indoors at 72°F. He suddenly let out an unusual bark/howl, collapsed, became unresponsive, and lost bladder control, all signs consistent with a seizure or neurological event. Importantly, a month prior Harley had experienced temporary paralysis in his back legs, another indicator of underlying neurological disease.<br>Taken together, the necropsy findings and his history strongly support that Harley’s death was due to a sudden neurological event linked to his chronic brain condition, and not from overheating, mistreatment, or the bark collar (which he had safely used for years).<br>Losing Harley so suddenly was devastating, and I share in that grief. While no words can take away the pain, I hope these medical findings bring clarity that his passing was unexpected, unavoidable, and not due to negligence.<br><br>
