IQ K9 Training

My wife and I are beyond grateful for Stani, Logan, and Luis at IQ K9 Training! When we picked up Travis after his 2 week immersive training, he was confident and excited to work to be a more obedient dog. We live in LA, so we drove 2 hours each way for Travis, and the experience & results were well worth it. Travis had 3 main issues we wanted to correct: 1) Going crazy and barking uncontrollably at certain dogs, 2) Jumping on people to say hi when they come close, and 3) General recall. Travis is a sweet boy, but also stubborn and sometimes likes to do the bare minimum to get by. Sometimes he tugs on the leash and he is headstrong, so when he is fixated on something, he wants to go towards it. We had a free consultation with Stani over Zoom, and she recommended a 2 week program. Our wife and I initially had hesitations with boarding & training programs given some of the bad ones we’ve heard / read about, but a friend of ours had went with Stani before and had glowing reviews. We took the chance, paid the deposit, and were excited for the new journey. The drop off was quick and we were anxious throughout the 2 weeks. Updates came every few days and all were positive. When we picked up Travis, we had about a 2 hour close-out session to train us on how to set Travis up for success. Travis was a changed dog. He was calm, confident, and ready to take our lead. We also initially had reservations on the use of an e collar, but Stani & Logan showed us how to use it for correction only, and we were pleased to have it as a tool to get Travis to focus. We practiced diligently over the next 2 weeks to build our confidence up as dog parents and we just wrapped up a follow-up session in-person to clean up a few things on our end. We are so glad we went with IQ K9. Stani follows very fair and good principles in her approach to training dogs - being kind with mistakes that will undoubtedly happen (for both the dog and parents), pushing for us to be consistent in how we communicate with him, and rewarding Travis for commitment towards command as learns to be obedient. We learned so much about Travis and how to approach situations with him, and our relationship with him has exponentially gotten better. We also very much enjoy how available the team is via texting when we had in the moment questions while practicing. We highly recommend IQ K9!!! They are absolutely wonderful and care so much for not only Travis, but making sure that we as dog parents are committed to helping him succeed.

Bringing our rescued Pitbull from a shelter in LA to IQ K9 Training was a game-changer! These trainers are simply phenomenal, possessing an unparalleled depth of knowledge and expertise that they generously share with dog owners. Our one-year-old *very high-energy* Pitbull initially struggled with impulse control, often becoming overly excited whenever meeting new people or other animals and greeting them with a body slam. Moreover, he had difficulty focusing on commands, especially in distracting outdoor environments. Playful mouthing was another challenge. However, after completing their three-week program, while he's not yet perfect, our dog's obedience foundation has been significantly strengthened. Now, he's markedly less jumpy and much more attentive, demonstrating remarkable improvements in controlling his excitement in distracting environments —a monumental achievement for us. The IQ K9 Training staff's dedication and expertise shine through in every interaction. They not only equip you with the necessary tools and techniques but also provide unwavering support and guidance. A follow-up lesson revealed our dog's boundless excitement to see them again, a testament to the strong bond they've forged. I wouldn't entrust my dog's training to anyone else. My Rottweiler was trained by IQ K9 and goes there to board. The trainers are knowledgeable and caring. In addition to obedience training at their facility, which has large training yards, they take the dogs on field trips to socialize them to various situations—the dogs learn obeying commands is not only for the training field, but for the park, Home Depot, the boat harbor,etc. Not only do I love IQ K9, my dog loves it too.
