We take the care and well-being of every dog entrusted to us very seriously. When Arrow was dropped off, Erik informed us that he was at high risk for escape, experienced gastroenteritis (digestive issues) when stressed due to extreme separation anxiety, and had dietary restrictions, including no outside treats. We adhered strictly to these instructions and took every precaution to ensure Arrow’s safety and comfort during his stay. Given these concerns, Arrow was listed as “hand-walk only,” meaning every potty break, play session, and personal time hanging out in our front lobby was carefully monitored to minimize stress and risk of escape. Throughout his time with us, he received dedicated care and supervision.<br><br>Regarding Erik’s concerns, we want to clarify that there was no indication of heat stroke, as was alleged. Arrow was last pottied before bed Saturday evening by our store manager with our trainer also present. He was in good spirits, drank water, and pottied normal. He was discovered deceased at 10 minutes before 7:00 am on Sunday morning, according to phone records when our manager called one of the owners. At no point were any other dogs in distress. He was housed in a room with other dogs who slept through the night without incident, including an elderly Great Dane. We have three AC units on our building and all are in working order. <br><br>Arrow was taken to Ironhorse Veterinary and Specialty in Dublin, which is a 10 minute drive from our business. This can be confirmed on Google maps. Ironhorse employs specialty veterinarians and we consider them a top notch hospital. They are open 24 hours and have been in business 25 years. <br><br>We immediately suggested a necropsy to provide Erik and his family with clarity regarding Arrow’s passing. We personally covered the cost and facilitated Arrow’s transport to Necropsy Services Group next to UC Davis for the procedure, with receipts totaling over $5,000. Our intent was solely to support Erik and his family during this difficult time.<br><br>While we remained communicative and cooperative, our staff’s safety became a concern when Erik began following employees outside our facility and confronting them in public locations, including a gas station. Multiple witnesses and video footage from the gas station confirm these actions.<br><br>As for the necropsy, we coordinated with the pathologist to arrange and pay for the service. Our manager spoke at length with the pathologist when Arrow arrived. However, despite our repeated efforts to obtain updates through phone calls and emails—records of which we have retained—the pathologist became unresponsive. After texting Erik that we had been unable to reach the pathologist, Erik instructed us not to contact the pathologist directly, stating that all communication should go through him. Unfortunately, we were never provided with the necropsy results.<br><br>We were deeply saddened by Arrow’s passing and empathize with Erik’s loss. However, we stand by the level of care we provided and remain confident that we did everything within our power to ensure Arrow’s safety and well-being.
