Indy’s Top Dog

Brandon is very unprofessional. He has publicly referred to mixed-breed dogs as “mutts,” insinuated that they aren’t worth paying for, and stated that “anything miniature is going to be a little mutant monster.” He said some other pretty nasty things in regard to someone’s choice of dog. That is a pretty nasty way for someone who PROFESSIONALLY works with animals to describe an entire category of dogs, especially considering some of those same “mutts” and “little mutant monsters” could very well walk through the doors of his own training facility. I’m perfectly capable of listening to someone explain that mixed breeds may have less predictable traits, that smaller dogs can present different behavioral challenges, or that they personally disagree with doodle breeding. That wasn’t the issue. It was the contemptuous way he expressed it while simultaneously using his profession to give those statements authority. Then, when I questioned him about the evidence supporting his sweeping statements, his professionalism went completely out the window. He told me I had a “big mouth and closed ears,” accused me of being “indoctrinated into doodle TikTok,” and eventually provided a study while telling me to put it into ChatGPT so my “smooth brain” could understand it. So apparently, disagreeing with this professional and asking him to substantiate what he says warrants insults about your intelligence. That tells me plenty about how he handles being questioned or challenged. I cannot tell you whether Brandon is a good or bad dog trainer because I have never hired him, and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. What I CAN tell you is how he represented himself and his profession during my direct interaction with him. Between referring to dogs as “mutts” and “little mutant monsters,” the condescending comments about the type of dog I wanted, and personally insulting me when I challenged his statements, I personally would never feel comfortable handing this man my money or trusting him to be the professional I turned to for guidance about my dog.

Brandon is very knowledgeable with training. He develops a rapport with the dog. I was very impressed with the in-home training once my dog returned home. I observed the success of the training when Brandon presented several scenarios at my home and the reaction of my dog. My dog was well disciplined and followed all commands in every scenario. Brandon’s communication is excellent and I was comfortable contacting him at any time concerning my dog. He sent videos often of his engagement with my dog. His love of dogs is obvious in the way that he interacts with them. I would highly recommend him!

We took our Golden Retriever, Hank, to Brandon at Indy’s Top Dog for training related to some possession issues, specifically involving our son, as well as pulling on the leash and basic obedience. Hank trained with Brandon at the facility for six weeks, and I honestly cannot say enough good things about our experience. Hank absolutely loved Brandon and could not wait to go every single week! We have come so far in such a short amount of time. I’m no longer getting yanked down the street on walks, and Hank definitely has a different level of respect and responsiveness with me now. Brandon not only worked with Hank, but he also gave me the knowledge, confidence, and tools I needed to continue the training at home and understand what I need to do to be consistent with him. He communicated everything extremely well throughout the entire process and was so good with Hank. I am so glad we chose Indy’s Top Dog. I honestly couldn’t be happier with our experience or the progress Hank has made. I would absolutely recommend Brandon to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, effective, and caring dog trainer!
