Lefty (my rescued German Shepherd) and I started training with Amy in March of 2013, after Lefty had been home with us only 3 weeks. Lefty is my first dog and I had very little experience with dogs in general. Needless to say, I really needed training! Lucky for us, Amy is fantastic. She has helped me gain confidence in my ability to handle Lefty, provided insights into his reactions (e.g., recognizing when he is anxious, frustrated or just excited) and always provides helpful corrections on my behavior to ensure I not only instruct him properly, but set us both up for success. We have worked with Amy on everything from basic skills like ‘sit’ and ‘stay’, to specific behaviors such as proper greetings (for instance, not scaring our guests when they first arrive). After our training sessions, I always feel so encouraged, with a great (and usually really easy) plan of action to keep us on the right track. She really seems to understand Lefty and every tip and exercise she gives us has worked perfectly. In addition, Lefty absolutely loves Amy! He is overjoyed when she comes over for training (and she doesn't even bribe him with treats!). As a result, training is effective and fun for both of us. Lefty and I have benefited immensely from our training. He is a joy to live with, has greater confidence in me and our bond has become so much stronger. We continue to work with Amy to advance our skills and work out any issues that pop up. She is always available when I have questions or need help in a particular area. We are so lucky to have found her!
