Which training plan is more effective?
Both training plans are very effective; it all just depends on how involved in the training you would like to be. Private training you’re involved in the entire training process and day training we take care of most of the training process for you. Then at pick up we will show you what we have done.

How old does my dog have to be to start training?
We can start in home Private dog training at anytime. If you wanted to do any in facility training with your pup. They must be at least 4 months of age!

What training methods do you use?
We are balanced trainers so we use all four quadrants of Operant Conditioning (positive reinforcement, positive punishment, negative reinforcement, and negative punishment.) and Classical Conditioning (a process that involves creating an association between a naturally existing stimulus and a previously neutral one). We start with the least invasive methods and only go more invasive as needed and with owner approval.

We are still in the middle of training, but things are going extremely well. We tried classes at Pet Smart for one of our other dogs, epic failure. So we were hesitant at first to try Idaho K9 Academy. I wish we had gone to them first for our other dog. We are probably going to use them to retrain our first dog. The trainer knows my dog by name when we arrive and my dog is happy to see her each time. My dog is in the training program of one full day with the trainer once a week for five weeks. The trainer adjusts the training according to how well our dog is picking up on things being taught. Of course, we have to reinforce the training between classes. But you can immediately see how well the training is going.

Decided to enroll my 8mo old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix (Neptune) into their class, could not have made a better decision! First and foremost, their program is offered at a very affordable rate, and trust me, what little you pay is money well spent here folks. McKayla is our trainer and she is AWESOME!! From first meeting her she was very kind, informative, and knowledgeable. She's great at training your pup, but also really great at engaging and teaching you how to be a better furball parent/trainer as well! It's clear that this program is not "one size fits all" like some other programs. These guys individually work with you and your pup to determine the best course of action and what needs worked on the most, with a big focus on basic obedience. We've only been through one day of training with Neptune so far, and I can safely say that every penny I spent was worth it! McKayla was an all-star and did great with Neptune. She's definitely a dog/pet person, he was very comfortable around her, she was respectful and understanding of his needs, and ultimately worked/paired with him extremely well! From our first day of training, we noticed Improvement with leash walking, getting too excited when greeting us/strangers, and so much more! Thanks again to McKayla and the team at Idaho K9 Academy!
