FirstBarkVictoria of Hunter Mill Retrievers has been training our reactive rescue dog ( and me). Victoria ‘s positive training methods have been effective and in a really short time. The transformation from the dog pulling my arm off on walks to walking politely by my side from just a few practice sessions was remarkable. And that same progress has continued in her training of other behaviors as well.

I have never felt more safe and happy boarding my dog than with Victoria and HMR. She not only keeps my dog happy and stimulated, but she provides training for my dog as well. Victoria has a combination of kindness and authority that is incredibly special. I cherish this place!

We called Victoria at our wits end (understatement) when we bit off more than we could chew with adding a new lab puppy to our already busy family of 3 small human kids! We truly were ready to call it quits but in she walked! She was our lighthouse in the fog and walked us through not only puppy obedience but also house training methods, expectations, encouragement, in a positive reinforcement method. She does not judge you and constructs a plan on how to best merge our lives together (human and dog) so they maximize harmony, fun, and the most beautiful parts of owning a dog. Our lab is now 7 months and he is the heart of the house! We still can’t believe how far we’ve come. He adores Victoria, and just about jumps out of his fur with excitement when he sees her car pull up. Highly recommend!

We turned to Victoria of HMR desperate to gain control of our rambunctious, spirited 5 months old Lab puppy. We’re experienced dog owners, but this puppy was a handful. It’s been an amazing transformation—literally after the first session. Maya not only became more obedient, she’s much calmer overall, more attentive and more affectionate. Biting and nipping are all gone. Walks are no longer a struggle. Food heists have decreased markedly. She comes when called and is so eager to learn! And all this was achieved exclusively through positive reinforcement. No yelling, no shock collars, no leash pops. Loving, kind and supportive, Victoria is a true professional trainer. We’re lucky to have found her—after trying other trainers and DIY. Do yourself and your dog a favor and call Victoria. You won’t be disappointed
