I met Josh when my Great Dane was about six months old. She was afraid of everything and I had accidentally trained her to be very reliant on me in the first few months that I had her. I happened to live down the street from the Houston DogWorks facility and reached out to Josh. He was very honest with me about what it would take to get my giant breed dog to the level of obedience that I wanted. Great Danes are notoriously slow to mature and Josh taught me how to be patient and consistent in order to get results. He was very hands on and helpful with any issues that came up as we were going through the training process. We ended up taking multiple training classes over the course of three years and I could not have asked for a better experience. Having this kind of knowledge in my dogs behavior and the ability to extend that to new skills is something I will never take for granted. We recently moved out of Houston to a very dog friendly city and I consistently get compliments on how well behaved my dog is on and off leash. And we never miss the opportunity to visit our friends at Houston DogWorks whenever we are back in town.

My father and Gus, his 3 year old Rottweiler, just got home from Josh's Retrieval class. All he can talk about is how Houston Dog Works has changed his relationship with Gus for the better. Those two have taken just about every course they can sign up for and keep coming back for more! I'm a mom of 4 young children and training Gus was absolutely a necessity for us all to be around him. We call Gus "our" dog now. He's obedient, calm, and a part of our family. Thank you Josh, for training not 1, but 2 members of our family! Ha! Your expertise has increased the bond between my dad and Gus AND I know you will be seeing us in the future for any dog handling classes we may need!

I can not recommend this dog training enough. Is it easy? No - you need to put time in to work with your dog, but you will see results that last. Seriously. We started with our Aussie when she was about 8 months old, and after we went through the whole program, it was a night and day difference. Before, she was SO reactive. We couldn't bring her anywhere without using all our strength to hold her back from lunging at other people/dogs. Our walks normally ended in anger and frustration (to the point where we had given up) It's been more than a year since our last training session, and our dog is still performing exactly according to the training that Josh helped us put in place. The. Exact. Same. And get this - she's good for anyone who walks her or is giving her commands. If you want a dog that's actually trained (and not bribed with treats), look no further. This is the best.

Awesome puppy classes and great knowledge! Very informative. You are actually trained just as much as the dog. Very insightful and teaches you legitimate dog training techniques. Edit 9/20 We moved from Houston 1.5 years ago and have found a local dog sitter for us. They have said "Rummy is the best, most well trained dog we have ever taken care of." Josh and co. have done wonders for our dog and with our daily maintenance practice our dog is comfortable and well behaved in any situation.
