Horses & Hunting Dogs

I was looking for my dream dog, The perfect English Setter. I wanted a house dog / hunting dog but in Philadelphia "good Luck" there wasn't a breeder in the entire State so I contacted a friend from Ohio that had purchased one from a breeder called Horses and Hunting dogs in Lewisburg Ohio. So I called and spoke to Carol Gaver who was so sincere and knowledgeable about the breed. I knew I had called the right place. My experience acquiring this pup was exceptional to say the least. all I had to go by was photographs and her word. Carol disclosed all the pups medical records and several photos along with a detailed verbal explanation of the pups temperament. I told her that I did not want the most High strung pup of the litter and she knew right away witch one would be the right choice for me. I'm not going to discuss the selling price because that's between the buyer and the seller but I will say VERY VERY REASONABLE so my friend from Ohio picks up the dog for me and meets me half way in the middle of Pennsylvania and we make the transfer, I give him a case of beer he hands me the Pup so we snap a couple of pictures and I'm in the truck and on my way back home. so I get him home and he looks gorgeous I mean he could be on the cover of English Setter Monthly. When I took him to my Veterinarian he said he was the finest looking English Setter he had ever seen. All his tests were negative no worms no tics no fleas no mites. his ears were perfect and his dew claws were removed, When I picked him up he was bathed and smelled like a sugar cookie Day one he set a hard point on a wing. The best part was at 14 weeks I got him and he was HOUSE BROKEN. Absolutely unbelievable. Carol Gaver of Horses and hunting dogs is no doubt Americas best English setter breeder. How lucky I was to stumble across a superb organization like this.
