Holy City Canine

I can't say enough about how great my dog foxy has turned out after spending time with holy city canine academy. I did the dog boarding with training, as I have a very busy schedule, foxy went there for two months and came back a brand new confident dog. The continue training that jonathan taught me has worked wonders, I take him to work with me now and my co-workers are amazed at how well he is behaved, he is in control of his emotions while still being a fun goofy dog that loves sticks and water.

Update to my original review (Google doesn't allow to post more that one): Since posting my review (below) this place has tripled down on being one to avoid at all costs. Most importantly, I was very saddened and troubled to learn that a perfectly healthy 1-year old pup named Kiba died within 8 days of being at holy city canine in May 2022. This is extremely troubling and I feel awful for the owner – the most likely explanation is that the dog was left in a hot crate for days on end without food or water. I asked the person who runs this place if the dogs ever leave the property and if he has an email receipt of ordering the correct food but did not get a response, nor was I reimbursed for the destroyed bed – no surprises there. I was able to confirm a few things: he admitted the raw spot was kennel nose (after previously telling me it was from playing outside on a tree root); the dogs do not get bathed; and his personal items were destroyed. In summary here is what to expect: no training occurs (that is why you won’t receive any updates or see any progress); the dogs don’t actually leave the property and are subjected to the crate all day; regression in social behavior (anxiety/skittish;) basic care is explicitly neglected – no baths, beds destroyed, kennel nose, wrong food; and continuous misleading narratives and lies. If you are for some odd reason still considering sending your dog here, I’d highly suggest you visit the site and ask to see where the dogs stay first. Original review: Before sending my dog, Ozzie, to Holy City Canine, he was an easy, happy, well-adjusted dog and an absolute joy to be around. He had no problem behaviors. He was confident, affectionate, friendly with people and dogs, crate trained, and comfortable in public settings. Walking on leash, greeting people, and settling at home were not struggles. The reason I enrolled him in a board-and-train program was not to fix issues — it was to refine skills in public, introduce an e-collar properly, and further strengthen leash walking, recall, and a stay. What I got back was a dog who was worse than when he arrived and a concerning experience. Ozzie stayed 39 days, longer than the 3–4 weeks originally represented. During that entire time, communication was essentially nonexistent. I received zero proactive updates, zero written progress reports, and not a single training video the entire time. For a $4,000 board-and-train program, this level of silence is alarming and unacceptable. I received a handful of random photos that showed nothing resembling training. Multiple promises of training videos and progress updates were made and never delivered. By the time I picked Ozzie up, it became painfully obvious that no training happens. What I observed on pickup day was my only snapshot into what was occurring. I brought a 6-week supply of Ozzie’s specific food due to a sensitive stomach. When I asked for the remaining food, no one knew what I was talking about. I was instructed to bring his bed and a toy to sleep with. His bed was found completely ripped to pieces and left outside. His toy was discarded in a field - the items that I was asked to bring were destroyed. After 39 days, he was returned dirty, smelly, and unbathed. It was obvious baths don't happen. He also came home kennel nose, caused by excessive boredom and frustration - repeated pushing against the crate. This place was sold to me on the promise of real-world training — parks, stores, and public environments. That was almost the entire reason I paid for it. I have no reason to believe he left the property even once. This was a complete failure across simple communication, basic hygiene and care, and training. I paid $4,000 and got back a dog who was dirtier, more anxious, less obedient, and stressed. In my opinion, this is not a professional training operation. It is disorganized, unaccountable, and deeply concerning from an animal welfare standpoint.
