I took my dog here two times after doing the foundational classes (note that I had to buy a 10 pack of daycare passes which were never refunded) At the end of the first day my dog peed as soon as he got home longer than he has ever peed before and then drank a whole bowl of water. It got me thinking that maybe he ended up in a crate all day at this facility. I took him back for a second day and had to drag him into the facility. I'm talking full on, body frozen in fear, did not want to go. I have used multiple daycare facilities over the years and this has never happened. It's shady that Carly doesn't want to do any tours of her facility. Candidly I don't trust her with my dogs, and I don't think you should either.

After 4 private visits with various trainers and my dog’s bad behavior continued to escalate, I was desperate to find something to work for my dog and me. I couldn’t take him on walks without him biting me or jumping at other dogs and people passing by. The final straw was when he bit a neighbor dog and lunged at two people coming into my home. I was fortunate to be referred to Carly and her team and her board and train program. While her board and train program seemed risky as I was only allowed one phone call with her, her demeanor and investment in my dog was immediately apparent. Her board and train is a comprehensive program that includes follow up appointments, daycare and play groups so the foundation from B&T continues to have a ripple effect and isn’t lost once the dog is brought home. Carly’s approach is intense, and even abrasive at times, though once you have an understanding of why it’s needed and the benefit to the dog, you will find she can be very likable and her passion is all in the name of the dogs health and well-being and everyone’s safety. I highly recommend High Drive and only wish I’d found her and her team sooner. You will not find this unique and effective approach anywhere else.

I would recommend High Drive and Carly to anyone who is serious about improving their pets confidence, stability, and over all wellbeing. While some owners are looking to just learn basic commands such as 'sit and down', others might have more intricate issues that they are looking to resolve. You might not think problems such as jumping on the counter, dashing open gates, or rushing the door when strangers come into the house are 'fixable' with group training classes... But Carly's training stratagies cover all of the bases with generalized methods that can be used in countless scenarios you might find you and your pet in. She does touch on basic topics such as sit and down and the proper ways to teach them, but the other topics she teaches are far more in depth and applicable for you and your pets' daily activities. If you are a low confidence human, you might not be the best fit for Carly's way of teaching. There is no room for sensitivity if you want results. If you are going to get offended when Carly does her job by giving you or your pet corrections and actually teaching, what you signed up for, then spend your time and money at a PetSmart class learning 'sit'. You are paying to get results and you need to be prepared that it isn't going to be all rainbows and unicorns. As a dog boarding kennel owner myself, I know that Carly and her team deal with a lot of coddled dog parents on a daily who may think that their pet is the best and the only dog the team is working with, as the negative reviews may show. Carly has specific directions that simply need to be followed, to run a smooth operation to be beneficiary for YOUR pet. If you don't feel comfortable following rules and are going to get upset when they can't comply to all of your needs, don't bring your pet to their facility. Keep in mind they are working with 50+ dogs and may not be able to drop everything to give you a tour through their facility. As a whole, Carly has somehow taught me simple training methods that help with all of my dog's issues and any potential issues that might arrise in the future. If you have the commitment to wanting to better your pet, then Carly will be the one to give you and your dog that confidence and stability that will last a lifetime.

As of writing this, my dog and I have been through the Foundation class, E-collar session, 3 play groups and 3 Advanced Training sessions. The last 3 months have been profoundly life changing for us. Walks, other dogs, time with family, friends, and deliveries were always extremely stressful for us. I didn’t know what would set off a barking spree, fearful aggressive acts and in general unacceptable behavior. I worked with one other local trainer before High Drive. The trainer started us out in a 1 on 1 class to evaluate her. When the trainer first approached us, my dog lunged and snarled at her, and from that point on the trainer said she would not be allowed in group classes, and they would never handle her. Along with that, the trainer said that I would always have to manage her. We went to several more 1 on 1 classes and made little to no headway in changing her behavior. I reached out to the High Drive team for 1 on 1 lessons and explained my dog’s behavioral issues, thinking that 1 on 1 training was the only option. They said no, sign up for group classes. Extremely nervous, we showed up for our first group class. As we settled into class, Carly made her rounds. My dog lunged and snarled at Carly. Carly was stone cold during the interaction. She told me that the behavior was fear based, and that I needed to correct my dog. Then, Carly moved on to the next dog. Tomy relief, we were still able to continue with group class. The Foundation Classes were truly meant to establish a strong base. They help to develop your dog’s cognitive ability to progress through training and life with excellent behavior. The foundation courses are meant to put you and your dog in a new and stressful situation, where 80% of the time they are meant to lie next to you. At times it was hard to see the bigger picture in this teaching method, but at the end of the course and especially in Advanced Classes, the big picture became clear. Carly conveys an enormous amount of information to you in each class, and is always willing to stay late to answer any questions or help you tailor a plan of action for your dog. Carly is excellent at taking notes at the beginning of every class and gives constructive feedback as to what we should be focusing on during the week. She might recommend play group, daycare, and E-collar training. Carly does an excellent job in stepping you through the integration process of this amazing E-collar training aid. What really solidified in my mind the training progression and Carly’s behavioral modification process was during our second Advanced Class. These classes are completely different than the foundation classes. There are about 10 minutes of down time as Carly checks in with everyone. After that, controlled chaos ensues. People are up and about gathering training aids and leaving the building. Dogs are walking around off leash, and toys are flying around. During this class, we were working on our sustained down position, with no leash. At the end I was able place my dog in a down position and leave the building. She was able to stay without breaking her down position and was comfortable while I was out of sight. I never thought she would have been able to do this. We no longer avoid potential distractions or triggers. Instead, we face them head on, knowing we have the foundational skill set to work it through. We still have work ahead of us, but we have all the tools to continue to be successful. We would not be where we are without the High Drive team and Carly.
