The cost of training depends on how much your dog already knows and what it still needs to learn. Cost of services is discussed during a training evaluation or behavioral consultation.

I use positive reinforced methods of training. I employ my training methods contingent upon the L.I.M.A. (Least Intrusive and Minimally Aversive) Principle and the Premack Principle.

The length of time in-person training is conducted with you, your dog, and the trainer is usually at a minimum of 5 weeks. Lessons are usually one hour and are once per week. The length of time for Behavioral modification training is contingent upon how much modification your pet is needing based on the outcome of the behavioral consultation. There is usually never a quick turn around with these types of cases as they take time to achieve results because a lot of times a pet has already had issues or bad habits for years before a trainer is contacted. The minimum length of time for board and train is usually about 3 weeks.

My 2 year old GSD— Leo— is my right hand man. Shortly after his 1st birthday Leo had a major change in his behavior. His behavior was getting to the point that I was worried I wouldn’t be able to control him. After going through training at HODDT, we can now go out in public and Leo enjoy himself rather than being reactive and feeling the need to protect himself and me 24/7. Ken is the best of the best and even follows up with us! Best decision you’ll make when it comes to dog training.

Our pup, Woody, has come such a long way since we started training with Ken in November. Woody needed more than obedience training, he was nervous and skeptical of strangers. After a few incidents, Ken was recommended to me by a very prestigious service dog trainer in the area. Ken knew exactly what training was needed to help his behavioral issues. We are currently in a 12 week behavioral modification program with Ken. We are still not finished with our 12 lessons, but Woody has shown a tremendous amount of improvement, and I can comfortably take him into stores myself, go for walks, etc. and feel confident in his behavior. Strangers do not phase him, and I owe it to Ken’s program for getting Woody to this point. While it will always be a work in progress, and it takes time and training to maintain his confidence, I do know what to do to keep a confident and happy pup. I knew going into this program that Ken would be training the both of us- but if you love your pup as much as I do… then trust me when I say it is worth it!!!!

When we first reached out to Ken, our dog had bitten 2 people. This behavior was completely out of character- we didn’t know what was going on with him, nor did we know how to fix it or if it could even be fixed. It was honestly so bad that I was concerned we were going to have to put our pet, whom we loved dearly, down. Ken showed us that while we did love him we did not understand him. Ken came into our home & met Rucker, and at the end of a one hour session told us that Rucker lacked confidence and basically had trouble processing his emotions. It sounds so obvious now looking back on where we started, our dog was a stress ball and we did not know how to read his behavior. Part of being a good pet parent is making sure your pets have all the skills they need and understanding what they lack, and how you can fill the spaces in between. We now know what triggers Rucker, and how to watch for those slight changes in his demeanor to de-escalate situations. When we started this journey I was scared our dog was a lost cause. That something had changed in him and maybe he was just a mean, aggressive dog now. But thanks to Ken and his skill set we are now confident in our dog and our ability to understand him thanks to all of the tools that Ken has given us along the way. We couldn’t be more thankful for Heart of Dixie Dog Training!

Great training and customer service! Ken turned my newly rescued dog into a dog full of confidence and obedience! He was a different dog when I picked him up and in the best way possible. Weeks after his training he still practices his commands well and is doing great. I definitely recommend Heart of Dixie Dog Training to any and everyone!
