Halo Collar

In February 2023 we bought our first collar for $746 and have paid $10-20 a month ever since for the service. Yesterday, our EIGHTH replacement collar stopped working. There is no excuse for selling such a worthless product for such a ridiculous price. I am a disabled veteran and this collar is for my service dog. He has almost spent as much time without a working collar as he has with one. I’ve never experienced such a debacle and I’m submitting this review in hopes of saving others from the same experience.

**** UPDATE**** I had to return this product due to them constantly failing. I had to send collars back to them all the time. It was ridiculous. Luckily they refunded me all my money. I really wish I could give this five stars. I have two full time outdoor dogs that protect my animals but they started to wonder onto neighbors land, chase cars down the road, and venture too far. I’ve trained them with other collars to know when they hear a beep to turn around but I never really wanted to buy these GpS fence collars due to the subscription and battery life. I had to do it though and the reasons I did not buy them is why I can not give them 5 stars. The collars work to keep them on the property because they were already trained. What sucks is I had to buy 4 collars for two dogs due to the battery life. I don’t even have to use anything other than the sound to get them to stay. Also, the boundaries aren’t fun to setup if you are setting additional boundaries around one another in case they go through the warning area. They should allow for the sound to continue to beep at them until they return to your property. This would solve me having to make additional boundaries which was difficult because you can’t make a boundary around another so each one is horse shoe shaped around each. Took forever to set that up. Number one issue is the battery life, I don’t understand how they can’t find a solution to have a very long lasting battery. Reduce some of the features and allow some of us to get a longer battery life. I don’t need to know exactly where they are at all times or anything. I would have gone with one of your competitors that had no subscription but they were double the price with a shorter battery life. Fix the battery life, allow for a timed correction with sound and I’ll increase your rating.

I had my halo for about a year with a monthly subscription. Throughout the year I had issues with the collars GPS. I would follow the troubshooting and it continue to be a problem. Recently the battery would not charge. I recieved an LTE error code, stating the collar needs to be replaced. Because my collar os just over year outside the warranty, they want to charge me over $400 to replace it. The new one is just over $500. The lady on the phone didn't even care that I had been with the company and paying monthly subscription. She did not try and give me a better rate or a discount for a replacement. I terminated my plan with halo. I would not recommend purchasing their collar. There are other companies that sell collars that don't require a monthly subscription. Very disappointed.

This is now my 4th collar from Halo. Each one lasts a couple months, the gps fails or the battery had a critical issue. They shut the collar down then send u a replacement that takes at least a week to arrive. Customer service is polite but can’t expedite the replacement. When it works it works, 4 replacements in 7 months is insane. I’m guessing they are refurbished but I can’t get a straight answer from support. Would never purchase again.

Great concept, but the company needs some work. Website is glitchy. Why do I need to reenter my order number and billing zip to access my order when I used the link from the order email. I should be able to see my orders in my account. Also, ordered new collar 04/27 1590468. It is May 1 and order is still processing. No reason in 2025 it should take that long to ship a product. Old collar used to correct my dog inside the house and show him at the neighbors when he was standing right beside me. Hopefully new collar is better? Customer service access is disheveled.
