Guthrie's International Trainers and Breeders

I can not say enough about Guthrie! Yes..... the "son" trained my dog! This IS a family run business. (The owner was also involved with my dog's training.) Every dog is evaluated. Training is structured, individually, based on the evaluation. This is NOT a cookie cutter operation. One way does not fit all dogs. As far as "helicoptering" dogs... I can see where a person might think that is happening. What I saw with my Shepherd; He was going flat out crazy, (because I was there) decided to push limits, while trying to bite "the son". My dog, Bear, spun himself around like a damn fool as the trainer maintained COMPLETE control of the situation! I did what was asked of me. ( As damn hard as it was for me to not run over to Bear, grab him a say something like, "Oh my poor baby! Now don't act like a fool and hurt this man!") ...... This was also part of MY training. Yes, dog owners are also trained and EDUCATED about how to handle their dogs ......... the correct way. I'm not a small or weak person. I drive semis. Prior to Bear's training, this 105 pound dog, managed to pull me off my feet more than once, dragging me until I was able to curse loud enough to get him to stop. Since his AND my training, I don't even raise my voice. Bear is a better, happier dog. I am a happier, more responsible pet owner. We now know what we expect from each other. The facilities are beautiful. Kennels are continuously cleaned throughout the day, climate controlled and yes, there actually is music in the kennel area. The dogs are kept separated from each other, which I do believe reduces their stress. I will continue to use Guthrie for any future training needs. In fact, I am going to be taking Bear back for snake avoidance training within the next month. If I have to board Bear, I will be boarding him with Guthrie. I trust them. They take care of my dog as if he is their own. If you're looking for a quality training or boarding facility, Guthrie is the place to go. Just know, not only is your dog going to be trained, you will be too. I know my training was the most important part of this whole journey.
