Gungho Dog Training

I recently completed the six week dog training program with my dog, Rudy, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The biggest change has been the confidence I now have letting him play off-leash—I truly trust that he will stay with me. Because Rudy is so athletic this is a gift for us both. We’re still building on what we’ve learned, but the foundation is strong and lasting. Micah, our main trainer, was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely thoughtful in working with both of us. Cody, the owner, is very skilled and also showed a clear commitment to Rudy and to our success. The professionalism, kindness, and results exceeded my expectations. I’m so grateful for the tools and guidance we received and would highly recommend this program. If you’re still on the fence, go for it! After my best friend passed away his family asked if I'd take his loyal best friend, Lance Corporal Adame (Lance), into my home. I could not and would not say no. I got to bring a piece of him home with me. I didn't know much about him but nonetheless bonded with him on our 2 day road trip from San Antonio, TX to WA. He was in need of some structure and obedience training. The guys at Gungho did an amazing job with Lance. They have such a calm demeanor about them and you can see it in their operation. They said they were going to work with him and us and I am thoroughly satisfied with what they've done. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Gungho to anyone and everyone!

This is a long review, but I think it's important to tell the whole story of my experience with Gungho. If I could give Gungho more stars, I would. We have four dogs, two of whom, in addition to just needing to be trained, were also having a lot of aggression and reactivity towards each other. We were actually at the point of trying to decide if we needed to find a new home for one of them because we didn't think they could ever get to a place where they could be around each other without a fight breaking out. After finding Gungho on Google, I reached out for more info. Cedric was so helpful and encouraging! He did a consultation with me over the phone about both dogs and gave me a lot of reassurance that they could work with the dogs and give them functional obedience (as he called it). Of course, he could not guarantee that the dogs would be friends again, but having training and having confidence would certainly be helpful no matter what. We took both dogs (in separate cars) and did a meeting with Cody and Micah. They walked us through what kind of work they could do with our dogs (Shimmer and Shea) and what the options were. We opted to have Shimmer do the hybrid program, which was two weeks of boarding (for 5 days and then home for the weekend) and then 4 weeks of one-day training and for Shea to do the 6-week one-day training. We decided to overlap Shimmer's last two weeks with Shea's first two weeks so they could work together. To say that the training has made a complete change is an understatement. Both dogs have become more calm, more obedient, more confident and secure...some of the destructive behaviors both dogs were exhibiting due to anxiety have disappeared. The dogs are responsive to us and better behaved towards each other. There is still a lot of work to do, but if you see the picture I have posted, that's both dogs (muzzled for safety) sitting on our couch together. Even just a few weeks ago, this could NEVER have happened. We even went from having to either drive the dogs in separate cars, or (if only one of us could do drop off and pick up) to make two trips to keep them separate. And now this is the second week of them being able to ride in the car together! Cody and Micah are simply amazing. They know what they're doing, they know how to help us understand what's going on and how to keep practicing at home. If you're willing to do your part in the work, you will see major growth and development in your doggos...I can (almost) guarantee it. I also find the online Skool very helpful in terms of suggestions and lessons for us to keep the training going. We will always be grateful to Cody, Micah, Cedric and Anne (who helped with scheduling) for how much you've helped our family! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Gungho!

Gungho is THE training facility! I am beyond impressed with their work and will be recommending them to everyone I know. We recently brought home our terrier mix, Fenrir, from the shelter and he began displaying some severe leash aggression, reactivity and other poor behavioral traits that was making it unbearable to take him anywhere outside of the house, leading to poor behaviors inside of the house (destruction, chewing, biting, barking, etc.). A dog is a long term commitment, so imagining spending the next 10-15 years with these behaviors was hard to come to terms with. Thankfully, we met Cody and decided on the stay and train package where he spent two weeks at the facility, and four follow up day training sessions. Fenrir just “graduated” today and is a changed dog! We’ve seen a complete 180 on his reactivity, and his leash manners are beyond what we could’ve dreamed of for him. The discipline and communications skills they’ve given Fenrir has made him a happier and more confident dog who will now get to be a full participant in our lives. I am so grateful for the care and attention Cody and Gungho gave Fenrir, I cannot wait to be a customer of theirs for many years and dogs to come!
