Great Pets by Brian KIlcommons

Brian Kilcommons trained our dog Parker and did a spectacular job with Parker. He also taught us how to handle our dog in a way that allowed us to continue and reinforce the training. Great Pets offers an amazing environment for dog training and board. Brian has a unique gift with dogs and their owners (we often times need more help than our dogs). Brian trained our puppy as soon as he was old enough. We have children and needed to be sure our new puppy was trained. Not only did Brian train our puppy at his facility, but he also makes visits to us upon our request to help refresh our knowledge of commands. We get compliments all the time on how well our dog listens. Brian's only goal is to make sure your pet is trained and he does an excellent job at doing so. While other trainers may be extra pampering in their handling of the humans, Brian means business and makes sure the money you spend gets the desired results and therefore is very direct. I noticed some other reviews negatively speaking about Brian. If you want someone to make YOU feel good and possibly train your dog, great. But if you want someone to focus 100% on training your pet and imprint long lasting obedience, Brian is the guy. Personally I do not have a risk tolerance for an untrained dog around children or wasting time and money. We refuse to board our dog given our attachment to him. The only place we allow him to stay is with Brian at his facility. While it's a good 2 hours out of the way, it's a no brainer for us. Not only does our dog get the attention he needs (Brian only accepts a finite amount of dogs), but also extra training and gets to play with other dogs. I'm happy to give a live recommendation if anyone ever wants.

There are no words to describe how lucky we were that our veterinarian recommended us to Brian Kilcommons, promising us that he was the best dog trainer out there. Our Goldendoodle, now 1.5 years old is a well behaved, gentle and friendly dog. Not a week goes by without someone remarking how well trained she is. Someone once came to me in Central Park, admiring her behavior and response to our commands and asked me where she was trained. When I told him she was trained by Brian, he responded, “you can always tell a Brian dog”. Brian's training facility is beautiful and so well equipped. Despite it being in a somewhat rural area, Brian trained our dog perfectly for city living. Of course, the potty training and behavior in the home was perfect from the beginning(as with any dog, it is up to us to reinforce) but Brian also socialized her beautifully to be around children and other dogs as well as comfortable and calm in public places and never fearful or overly responsive to loud noises or other distractions(birds, squirrels, kids on skateboards, etc). The best gift that Brian gave us was teaching us how to have a truly bonded and loving relationship with our dog.
