Gentle Wolf Dog Training

Angela is such a game changer! She has such an awesome knowledge and really gets dogs - and what they need from their owners. She was able to help me numerous times and showed me within minutes what I was doing wrong. She was always available for questions and yet explained it in a loving way so that I really felt understood and comfortable. Super sweet soul, absolutely love working with her and I know my dog is beyond grateful that she gave her a voice. If you’re looking for a trainer who truly cares and actually is able to help you, I can’t recommend Angela enough.

When I first got my puppy, he was crazy - adorable, but crazy. He could be really sweet one moment, and then another seem to react out of nowhere to certain dogs and people. And he had a whole host of other issues, including pulling on leash (I thought that was just what walking a dog was supposed to be like) and a rampant prey drive that resulted in more than one late night search party though the woods. Not knowing what to do but realizing I had a problem, I tried a couple different trainers. All of them seemed to try to solve problems with copious amounts of treats. It sort of helped with some aspects, until of course I ran out of treats. It seemed like my dog would do what it took to get the treat reward, but didn't actually respect me beyond being a treat dispenser - as soon as I was out of treats (or if the cat or squirrel down the street seemed tastier than the beef chews in my pocket) - I was out of luck. I also tried a shock collar - admittedly, I didn't get very far with this. I hated relying on a piece of equipment to make my dog comply with what I wanted. I can barely remember to charge my phone every day - now there was a remote controller and the collar, each with their own batteries and potential points of failure. What about if the collar gets loose, the batteries die, or I can't get to the controller in time? It all just seemed too cumbersome and unreliable. Gentle Wolf's training methods use a balanced approach where the foundation of training is your relationship with your dog - not some piece of equipment or treat bribe. Treats and various pieces of equipment are used in the training process, but they're adjuncts rather than pillars. GW taught me to read my dog's body language and cues and to really understand him - and to use this information to make intelligent training decisions. It's not some single magic bullet - I've learned that it takes patience and consistency. But after putting in the effort, the same dog that used to sprint away from me on walks and lunge at pedestrians is actually a registered service animal who I can confidently walk with in any environment, even without a leash. I never thought he would be able to heel next to me with no leash through a crowded airport security line, or that he would be able to stay calmy by my side as a deer leaps past us on a running trail. He comes when I call him - right away, every single time, no matter the environment. He still has all the personality as the day I got him, but now we have a level of trust that allows me to get so much more out of my relationship with my dog thanks to Gentle Wolf!

I can’t say enough good things about Angela. She is so knowledgeable and really loves dogs. Several of my fosters have required her help and she has been thorough in training them (and us!) to help them become amazing family dogs AND identify the best future homes for them. Angela knows how to read dogs, see them for who they are and build relationships between dogs and their handlers. Her program works, if you do the work!

I highly recommend Angela for all dog training needs! She has a wealth of knowledge that makes her an asset to help all sorts of dogs and owners. She is consistent, reliable, knowledgable and kind. I am an international client and I will continue to follow her for in person sessions when I can, seminars and virtual sessions for my current dog and any future dogs! I cannot recommend her services enough! I have participated in and viewed one on one sessions, group sessions and her board and train - all of which she has treated the owners and dogs with nothing but kindness, respect and the highest quality of care. She listens to all of my concerns and helped set up a plan we were both comfortable with to reach my goals. I really appreciate how she meets her clients and their dogs where they are at, and always celebrates even the smallest wins with you! I have personally had great success with her and my dogs and would not go anywhere else for training! She is always available for follow up questions and ensures no question is ever a silly one. I truly believe she wants to see all her clients thrive with their dogs and she will go above and beyond to ensure this happens. With her help I have been able to create the dog of my dreams who is able to peacefully exist in my life joining in on mountain adventures, road trips, cozy days on the couch and brunch at local cafes. My beautiful dog violet was a project. I was beyond frustrated. OMG!! I could not have found a better dog trainer than Angela at GENTLE WOLF DOG TRAINING. After 1 , yes, 1 session, my dog was on her way to being better behaved . Seriously, she was a different dog. I can not be more pleased with Violets progress. If I could give 1000 stars 🌟 🤩 I would. If you are frustrated with your dogs behavior or lack of discipline. Do yourself and your dog a favor and get them trained by the best. Angela's methods are solid and logical. You will learn so much about your dog and how they think.
