Gary Maria Professional Dog Training

Gary is a fantastic dog trainer. The depth of knowledge that he has about dog training is something that could only be obtained through a life's dedication to the trade. Gary provided one on one sessions for our shepherd/husky mix puppy, and he did an amazing job with the training (the dog was easy to train, it was me who needed the most work!). Can't recommend Gary enough. Would use him again in a heartbeat.

We rescued a 5 year young lab from Golden Gate Lab Rescue (great people). Our contact, Dave, gave us Gary's name. Our dog would pull on leash, jump up on people, and shoot out the front door. Our first session with Gary, he talked to us about his training and what was expected of us. While he was talking to us, he was also checking out our dog for her problems. He figured out what she needed and that she was food motivated for training. Gary's technique is a positive reward system that worked great with our dog. He explained everything he was teaching and why it would work. Our dog responded well to all of the training and was eager to please. She doesn't shoot out the front door anymore. Leash walks are almost pull free. The jumping is almost gone. We know this is a work in progress but the six sessions made a big difference in our dog. I would highly recommend Gary for your dog training. He is not quite a dog whisperer, but he is close. By the way don't lie to him if you don't do the weekly work, he will bust you. We got busted.

This is Roxy. We waited about 10 years before finally deciding it was time to get a family pet. Don't let the cute sleeping puppy fool you. This pup is full of energy and LOVES to play and will do things that are sometimes unfavorable to get your attention. When we decided to hire a dog trainer we looked around, called a few and decided to meet with Gary. Gary quickly became known as the puppy whisperer in our home because of his ability to get Roxy to be calm, focused and able to learn. She LOVES him! During training sessions Gary was also training "me" to handle Roxy and teaching me skills that I can continue to use throughout her life. We are all so thankful for his great skills! I rescued a wild 1.5 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier and soon realized i was in over my head. The little guy was lovable but just plain wild, I tried Petco training and to no avail thought I was doomed with an un-trainable dog. I then stumbled across Gary and after our first consultation session where he quickly and easily identified minute traits about the dogs personality, I knew he was the trainer for me. Gary has a true gift and skill, he understands animals and not only achieves results but educates you along the way. I gained not only a trained animal but I gained an education on how my dog thinks. The best part of his approach is his dedication to teaching you how to train the dog and build upon previous lessons. His tiered approach helps to calm the temperament of even the most uncontrollable animal (trust me I know). I would recommend his services highly to anyone wanting basic or advanced training any day of the week.

So my dogs now listen when I speak. It seems like a simple thing, but when you call and your dog doesn't give you the time of day, due to insufficient training - who are you going to call? I called Gary & he has given me the tools that are life saving for my dogs. They are happy and now understand what I want when I call. It is such a pleasure to have my Rat Terrier leap towards me - instead of going in the opposite direction to chase after what her natural instinct dictates to her.
