Freedom K9

Freedom K9 changed my relationship with my dog and likely saved her life. My dog Khaleesi is super smart and previously only obeyed when she felt like it. For a year-and-a-half I tried dozens of training techniques, but she only listened when she wanted to. I finally knew I needed to take her to a professional when she began escaping the yard and playing with my neighbors cattle. Whenever I’d catch her she’d totally ignore my command to come. I was hopeless and incredibly frustrated; especially since the cows could easily kill her or she could be shot. After 3 sessions at Freedom K9, she is completely different. She finally knows boundaries and has discipline. She now comes when called and is reliable off-leash. She even respects me more. At this point she rarely needs correction because she knows good things happen when she obeys me. Needless to say, any dogs I adopt in the future will be going to Freedom K9 and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone!

Kindle and her team are absolutely amazing and all-around WONDERFUL people. She gets straight to the point, knows what she's doing, TRULY LISTENS to you (which most trainers seriously lack), and follows through. I've never met someone more passionate about what they do, and wow. My dog is a NEW and improved version of what he once was. I adopted my dog Oakley from a local rescue and because of the hard life he lived before coming into a loving, stable home, he had severe anxiety 24/7 and bad reactivity towards other animals. After researching all of Southern Oregon/Northern California for a decent trainer who would actually help us, and receiving several referrals from friends/coworkers, we went to Freedom K9. Best money I have ever spent! Not only will she have Oakley and I (and any future pups that come into our home) as life-long clients, but every single animal person I know will hear about how amazing Kindle and her team at Freedom K9 is! Mako is a rescue. No one told us that he was a ‘reactive’ dog. Even if they did, we wouldn’t have known what that meant. The foster mom just said he doesn’t like his collar played with. When we first met Mako, he crawled right into our laps and we could tell that he wanted to go home with us. Problem was, Mako wasn’t socialized. Mako didn’t know how to behave. He didn’t know how to control his emotions. We were scared of him. We talked to a couple of trainers. None of them seemed right. We finally found someone who could help. When she came over with a prong collar I was horrified. I don’t want a dog that needs one of *those*. And then we talked about it. Having the collar helped us teach Mako place, sit and other commands, and control him somewhat, but we still had to have the leash attached to the correction collar, didn’t feel like we had him under voice command and he was still acting up. We were walking on egg shells. We had a bad night and we were preparing to give him up when we decided to call Kindle at Freedom K9. A friend had used Kindle and swore by her, so we had a conversation. The clincher was when she told us she could work with any dog unless they had psychological problems and she’s only experienced that twice. So we signed him up for a 3-week boot camp. We are so glad that we did. Almost 5 months later, Mako is our furbaby, through and through. He’s a part of our family now. He’s the dog we wanted. Our friends even notice what a different dog he is. Listening to us, following commands, sitting patiently. This wouldn’t be the case if we didn’t train with Freedom K9. Now Mako has great recall, is a total cuddler, let’s us touch his feet, trim his nails, do all the things. We took him last week to an offleash park for the first time (not in our yard) and he ran around in the grass so happily and came right back when we called. Because of COVID, we’re still socializing him with other dogs and humans, but he gets it now. Mako will always need a firm hand and direction, but he’s responsive and mostly super well-behaved. And Kindle has been there every step of the way. She told us to call her and we did and she helped tremendously. She gives great advice, and honesty, on how to handle situations and is always there for us. I can’t recommend the training enough.

I signed my newly-adopted dog up for the off-leash training program. The description said after 3 sessions (not including at-home practice) I would feel comfortable letting my dog off leash. In reality it only took two sessions before I was completely comfortable, and I wouldn’t say I was extremely diligent about practicing at home. Three weeks ago my dog pulled every second of our walks, would disappear into the forest for hours on hikes and would lash out at other dogs we came across. Now we always have a loose leash when walking around town and she stays within 10 ft of me when we’re out hiking. I was worried about the methods that would be used to change my dog’s behavior but after three weeks she is very affectionate with and not afraid of the Freedom K9 staff. It was a lot of money for me but I think it was absolutely worth it. They delivered on everything promised and more. If I adopt another dog I will sign up for this program again.
