Foothills Canine Academy

Brenda came highly recommended from the get go-we'd asked around and looked at different trainers/facilities for basic obedience with our 10 month old golden retriever. We decided that Foothills Canine Academy checked all the boxes. Brenda is approachable, patient, and has a good sense of humor (a must with THIS family 😉) Brenda is highly knowledgeable and is able to assess an individual dogs needs and behaviors ....ie. Brenda recognizes that not every dog (and their people) in class may be at the same point in their training "journey" and is more than willing to work with you. The small class size (10 dogs max) gave us plenty of focused instructor attention. The facility itself is EXTREMELY clean and was a straightforward drive from our home in Ahwatukee - just popped up on the I-10 (for those who are looking in the area!!)

Brenda & team are absolutely amazing - we picked a high energy, wicked smart breed and were concerned that we, the humans, didn’t know how to manage her and channel her smarts. I found Brenda after reading dozens of reviews of AZ dog trainers and decided to sign up for a 7 week beginner obedience class with our six month old pup. After class #1, my partner and ai decided we’d take every single one of Brenda’s classes because they’re SO fabulous. We were sad that we didn’t learn about FCA when our pup was younger!! Brenda is an expert and we learned so much from her over the past 7 weeks. I couldn’t recommend Foothills Canine Academy more!!!! The earlier you can take your pup to one of her classes, the better!

I chose Foothills Canine Academy due the the positive ratings. My dog and I took the beginning obedience class. I have a very reactive dog, which can make being around other dogs and people very stressful. If you’ve had a reactive dog then you know. Brenda and all those who assist her in her classes were very reassuring and giving me confidence that my dog and I will be able to work through his behavioral issues. They worked with me one on one during our classes and provided suggestions on things to work on to help with my dog’s behavior. I have seen a lot of improvement in my dog’s behavior during our walks. I am looking forward to taking the Engagement classes, as that class will provide more tools for me to apply in correcting his behavior. I would definitely recommend Foothills Canine Academy! Brenda and her staff are great!
