Follow The Leader K9

GAME CHANGING! I asked Eric for help me with Cleo, a husky/shepherd rescue that needed to be socialized with other dogs including “bullying”French Bulldog who already had good standing in our household. Going on a neighborhood walk or a trip to the dog park should be a fun experience and it wasn’t. Having an unsocialized dog creates unnecessary fear and insecurities in both dog and owner. Eric helped me see that it doesn’t need to be this way. Eric style of training was one that worked very well for us. I did interview other professional dog trainers in town. It appears that each trainer has a different approach to dog training. Here is what I liked about Follow the Leader K9: 1. Eric is passionate about his work! 2. Eric was an effective communicator. Eric seems to truly understand canines and humans. I asked Eric a lot of questions in an effort to be a better dog owner. He thoughtfully addressed my questions in a language I could understand. 3. Eric has a very effective training method. Trained canines Emma and Corona (that I met personally) are exceptionally trained student teachers bridge a gap between trainer and student (Cleo). I saw immediate positive behavioral improvements just by Cleo being around properly trained dogs led by a great trainer. 5. Great training environment! Eric’s training facility with indoor and outdoor space is a real world space for dogs to learn. 4. Professional dog training is expensive. I felt that the services I/we received the highest value from Follow the Leader K9. Since our training, both my dog and I feel more confident in our engagements when in public. She is more socialized. Cleo is a much better dog at home. Dog parks and walks are 100% better experience. The only regret is not committing to professional training sooner. Eric is a fantastic trainer. Confession: I have never felt the need to hire a dog trainer before and have always felt myself very capable with dogs I have raised in the past. I recently adopted a pure bred husky puppy and once my senior dog passed on she started displaying very tricky behavior, she basically wasn’t listening at all if she didn’t want to, and was extremely fearful of anyone outside our family inside our home. We were planning a trip for my son’s spring break and I was kind of panicking knowing my puppy was right at the age that if I left her for a couple weeks with someone unqualified to handle her it could really be a bad turning point and on the other hand, I thought maybe if I left her with a trainer she could make a turn for the better. I searched for trainers who do boarding in my area and Eric’s profile came up. I watched few of his YouTube videos and almost immediately felt he would be our pup’s best bet because it was clear Eric has a strong history of helping huskies with “behavioral problems” become well adjusted. All I can say is that after two weeks away Nali is a different dog. She is so much more relaxed. She is coming when called (this is huge) and understands what no is. She is sleeping happily in her crate. She let multiple strangers pet her at the park today with zero issue. Her leash manners are incredible. I honestly could go on and on. It almost feels unreal all he accomplished with her. She feels like a “normal” dog now with a very slight propensity toward being unsure rather than an unsure dog. He uploaded stories everyday so I could see her progress and it also struck me how caring and intuitive he was willing to be with her, to think outside the box and meet her where she was at. We’ll keep working with him as needed but all I have to say is I’m glad I followed my intuition with him as he has helped Nali tremendously and also me to understand where I wasn’t being as clear as I need to be with a dog that is more wild in nature.

Our 4.5 month old puppy was struggling with low food drive and was very easily distracted, which made training him challenging. In the one day Maverick spent with Eric and his pack, he learned some basic commands, manners and boundaries and Eric taught us how to implement the commands and set proper boundaries, through his personal verbal feedback as well as his Instagram stories/lives filmed while he was with our dog. We have continued to work on these commands as well as his food drive issue. The feedback we received from Eric was incredibly helpful! We are so grateful and will definitely be dropping our boy off to hang with the pack again soon.
