First Up K9 Training

We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Pat and First Up K9 Training! From the day she met with us and started working with our dog we knew we were in the most professional and thorough care and education possible! Every step of the process was perfectly timed and coordinated with our dog’s progress and response. The result is that we have a different dog in return: responsive, respectful, and well mannered! We could NOT have done this without Pat and all the tools she gave us and our dog to work with!

I can’t recommend Pat highly enough. She is an excellent dog trainer, and we are lucky that we met her through the Winter park Dogtopia. Pat assisted us with training and socializing our white German shepherd mix Leto. Leto, like a lot of rescue dogs, had a bit of a rough start to life. While very intelligent, he is highly reactive to a lot of new things. For example, he has this strange fear of boxes. He also is highly reactive to new people. Pat went our of her way to design a personalized training program to help Leto address his fears. She took him to parks to see more people, to playgrounds to watch children playing at a distance, and even to outdoor restaurants. She found boxes big enough to have him practice climbing in and out of them for treats. He is much improved due to Pat’s efforts. Pat also provided the necessary training to Leto’s humans to allow for continued behavioral improvements in the future. I feel like Pat sees a difficult dog as a challenge. She thinks out side the box to help our furry friends adjust to society (or in Leto’s case, inside the box.)

Pat is an excellent trainer! We had a concern with my dog and her leash walking. She would pull constantly and it was very hard to enjoy walks with her. I went to Pat with my concern and she was willing to help. She worked for about 6 weeks (once a week) with my dog and she improved greatly. She also now knows commands such as down, stay, and place (she didn’t know these before). Pat sent me videos of what she worked on while my dog was at daycare and that way I knew what I should be working on at home with her. She also was very communicative and still checks in on my dog to this day! I definitely recommend Pat if you’re looking to get your dog trained.
