This is especially true when someone has been promised something and then it wasn’t delivered or flat out told there was nothing to be done because it had to do with a particular behavior and/or a particular breed. Understanding genetic traits and how the environment can then shape personality traits is very important within the type of dogs I work with. It’s Nature AND Nurture, not Nature VERSUS Nurture. They work together (or against each other) to create learned behaviors. Being able to recognize the influences between the genetics and environment is where the successful and meaningful change takes place. You are putting in the work, and that is why you are seeing the results. I’m just here to teach you the proper skills and and give you the knowledge (and keep you on track) so you can become the trusted leader your dog needs to be successful. Thank you!! Sometimes all it takes is applying a different perspective to the situation and then layering in clearer channels of communication. You guys had a great start, it was just about creating a plan which brought all the pieces together in such a way that both the dog and the humans within the “team” were able to understand.
