When we first rescued our 2 year old stranger/dog reactive GSD, we couldn’t even as much as get a call back from 7/8 local training companies. Nate was the one who called us back and we couldn’t be more thankful we found him. Nate started by working with us at our home on the very basics, prepping us for future dog park, Home Depot, and eventually school lessons. Riley, our incredibly scared, distrusting, anxious girl has become perfectly obedient, confident, and comfortable in her own skin. She has excelled in situations I wouldn’t have imagined attempting to put her in when she first came into our lives. I can assure you, this is not because of us or her, Nate was our saving grace. He not only provided us with the knowledge but also with the attitude we needed for success. His patience and understanding with our (Riley inclusively) needs, wants and short comings is exceptional. He had respect for Riley and her boundaries but also the diligence to keep pushing her ever so slightly to become more comfortable. After much doubt in the beginning, Riley has become a perfect addition to our family, all thanks to Nate. We couldn’t recommend him more highly for any training opportunities but especially for dogs who need just that little extra.

Let me start out by saying that our family has not only utilized Every Day Canine for dog training but also knows this family personally. Nate is naturally gifted with dogs. It is truly one of those gifts that is inherent to a person, and he has it. He is confident, direct, and speaks their language. As a decorated K9 handler for a local police department, it has always been clear that he has a love and admiration for dogs that far exceeds mere interest. He respects dogs, and dogs respect Nate. He transformed our mixed-breed German Shepherd / cattle-dog / Asian breed / retriever into one of the greatest companions. And the thing is, Nate meets dogs where they are at. He started working with our dog, Ace, when he was small. My partner and I went away for nearly three weeks in 2019 and boarded Ace with Nate and Courtney (long before they owned this business). When we returned, he was an obedient, trusting, relaxed dog (versus the anxious, skeptical, uncooperative dog he had been at times). After the birth of our daughter in 2021, Ace slipped back into some of his old bad habits (as dogs often do after the arrival of small humans). When Nate started his business a short while later, we knew immediately we had to utilize his services to correct some of the behaviors we were seeing. Nate offered a group training course that was not only incredibly beneficial to our dog but also beneficial to each of the humans that accompanied their K9 companions. He gives people useful, unambiguous feedback about their actions and the specific things they need to change to correct unwanted behaviors in their dogs. Truly, the course was transformative. Nate goes above and beyond in explaining the mindset and underlying drives that push dogs to behave in certain ways. Not all of that was of interest to me, but it's definitely a testament to his knowledge and his desire to see the dogs he works with succeed. It is no surprise to me that there are numerous 5-star reviews for Nate's training, from people who actually utilized the services of this business. I would recommend Nate to anyone who is looking for help with their dog, whether you seek help with behavior, obedience, agility, or teaching your dog to listen or stay with you off-leash, a thing many native Vermonters love to do!
