Evergreen School For Dogs

We decided to leave our rescue dog, Loki, with Corday for 4 weeks boarding and training, because it was a bit of a nightmare walking her on leash and we were at a loss when it came to fixing her issues. We got Loki, who is half Belgium Malinois, half Husky/Lab, when she was a year old and she had grown up and spent her young life in a rescue. She didn’t know how to walk on leash and was scared of cars, fear growled at people and was reactive to other dogs. That first year we did positive, reward based training and solved most of her problems, except for her pulling on the leash like a steam train and barking and lunging at other dogs! Corday showed us how to get Loki to listen to us and respect our choices, to trust that we were in charge, and for her to be able to relax, knowing that we were managing the situations. It’s been 2 months since we got Loki back and our walks are now enjoyable! Loki works hard to stay by my side, as she is a fast paced walker, but she wants to be near me and so responds to my prompts. She responds to the ‘heel’ and ‘break’ commands throughout the walk, and is much more connected to me than before. When she sees other dogs, she will look at them closely, and may or may not bark if they bark at her. But even then it is just one or two barks and then she stops and listens to me. She is more relaxed at home and stays on her bed when I ask her to, relaxing fully when I put her ‘in place’. She always comes when I call her, and loves to be around me. The training has left her personality intact; she is still loving and cheeky, but she is also more obedient and eager to please. As she is a two-year old, high energy, prey-driven dog, she is still learning to walk slower and be calmer on her walks, but has come on in leaps and bounds since Corday trained her; I am excited to see what the future holds for us!

When we started searching for a dog trainer, it felt like our last resort. Our dog had an incident with an attack (receiving end) and became super fearful, not to mention a difficult breed mix already (GSD/Border Collie). We watched as this turned into serious reactivity and just an all around hot mess. Walking her was a nightmare, she was reactive to people, dogs, cars, basically anything that moved or looked at her caused an issue. We couldn't have people over to our house, we were worried about her around our kids, and people were scared and thinking she was dangerous & aggressive. It got to the point where we knew she didn't have a quality life and we would very likely need to re-home- but with her issues, we also knew re-homing would just make her so much worse. As long as we kept her home with us, in our little bubble, she was so sweet, smart, and a different dog. We wanted to have hope but it was running out. I found Tommy online in my search and stopped searching when I found his website. He checked all the boxes and looked like he wasn't afraid to take on a challenge. We set up the consult and saw an unbelievable turnaround in just an hour. He knew how to understand and communicate with our dog, knew how to correct all of the things I had been doing wrong with kindness and efficiency, and taught us how to understand and work with her traits- not trying to "train it out of her" but using it in a way to work for us and for her. He completely turned around our relationship with her, drastically improved our quality of life, and set us on the path with SO many skills and training knowledge in our back pocket to be able to continue working with her. In a handful of lessons, he changed our life with her and we couldn't love her more. If you are still reading this and you just don't know what else to do, Evergreen School for Dogs is it. Problems big or small, they've got you. Worth every single penny by far and we should have done it a long time ago. We have reached out to Tommy 2 times now for help with our dogs. We have 4 dogs, 3 males and 1 female. 2 of our males were fighting and we didnt know what to do. It was bad! Our vet recommend Tommy. Tommy came to our house 3 or 4 times and helped us through the difficult time. He didn't make us feel like failures and gave us tips to control the situation. All 4 of our dogs get along now and we now know what to do to avoid a fight. Recently one of our other males was showing dominance issues towards US! Tommy came to our rescue again and showed us how to control our living space and take down the negative energy that was causing the situation. What we love about Tommy is, he has a calming personality. Your house doesn't have to be spotless and he is very easy going.He doesn't judge you and the dogs always like him. I have no problems calling him back for help. Our dogs are our family and we want to avoid issues. His group lessons are always fun too!Highly recommend him!😁
