Equilibrium Canine

We sought Nick when our pup Finn was about 1. At the time, we were having issues with Finn pulling on the leash during walks, chasing cars and riling up other dogs in the dog park, and recall during hikes. During our initial assessment, it was clear that Nick understood dogs (and how their well-meaning humans' behavior can create bad habits). Nick taught us about creating boundaries and consistency with Finn, as well leash drills and fundamentals to work on in our home to address the above issues. Based on the positive progress we had seen as well as some of our longer term goals, we then also worked with Nick on e-collar training for Finn. Nick was so knowledgable, responsive and flexible around our schedules during this process, and helped us to work with Finn on recall with a gradually increasing set of distractions, while making sure we were supporting Finn and that he was understanding what we wanted from him. Even after training sessions, Nick was available via text if there were any questions about what we had learned, or how best to reinforce it in different scenarios. We would highly recommend Nick to anyone looking to troubleshoot their dog's behavior!

We connected with Nick on the recommendation from a friend and he is our dog godsend!! We adopted Cooper and he is about a year old. Before we started working with Nick- Cooper was begging and barking while we ate, territorial in our home and apartment building, scared of other dogs, and scared of most men. Since working with Nick we have a happier, more confident dog. Nick has been able to teach us why Cooper responds the way he does in certain situations. He then builds on this base of knowledge with training techniques. Each session builds on the last one, while revisiting previous training methods to adjust as needed. Even more than that Nick is available outside of our training times. If there’s a particular issue that we’re struggling with - Nick encourages us to send a video. He then provides detailed feedback through video, text, or a phone call so we can address the issue head on. Since we’ve been working with Nick- Cooper sits in his place while we eat, walks at our side, meets and greets many dogs, and understand that the people he meets are not going to invade his space. None of this would have been possible without Nick. He is an amazing trainer and his love of dogs shows through in every session. He wants you to succeed to give your dog a happy, well balanced life.

Nick from Equilibrium Canine has been training my rambunctious 1 year old golden retriever for a few months now and has been nothing short of a miracle worker. In addition to basic obedience and leash walking, my puppy had learned some bad behaviors that we’ve spent a lot of time correcting and he has been infinitely patient with me and my dog throughout. The sessions are both fun and highly effective and my puppy leaves exhausted. However, much of the “work” happens at home, reinforcing all of the things he’s taught you. Nick checks in afterwards to answer any questions that come up and that’s truly unparalleled service. Overall he is professional, attentive, methodical, and clearly loves what he does and I highly recommend Equilibrium to anyone looking for some help with their dogs!

Nick helped us out with a returned foster dog. The dog has trouble seeing other dogs while walking on a leash. Nick showed us that with the right attitude and patience the dog can get along great with other dogs! The foster dog and his dog were hanging out after a short period like they were good buddies! Nick understands dogs and dog behavior. He can apply that knowledge to you as an owner, in both profound and very subtle ways.
