We had a really great experience working with Alan as our dog trainer. We have a 4-year-old red heeler mix who was struggling with resource guarding, anxiety mixed with excitement, and poor impulse control. Before reaching out, we watched a lot of dog training videos and tried to learn as much as we could on our own. But we quickly realized that our dog’s behavioral challenges were more complex, and we were worried that without the right guidance we might actually make things worse. That’s when we decided to trust a professional and chose Alan. Alan took the time to understand our dog and address our concerns. The training was customized specifically to what our dog needed, and we really appreciated that he recognized our dog is a good dog who just needed the right tools and boundaries in place. He didn’t just work with our dog—he also worked with us so we could continue reinforcing the training at home. During the process, Alan sent us daily videos and pictures of our dog, which gave us peace of mind and allowed us to see the progress being made. Since completing training, our dog is noticeably calmer and listening to commands so much better. His overall quality of life has really improved, and ours has too. Alan helped to save our dog’s life. We were seriously considering putting her down, which was a heartbreaking thought for my daughters. We now have the structure and tools we need to have in place to maintain a safe environment. It has taken regular practice to maintain what she has learned, though so far we still have a safe home with no dog aggression incidents since she has been home. And, we know what to do if she does act out. I appreciate how Alan has been available after her training to answer questions that have come up since she came home after her 3 week training. Alan was thorough with our Norman. A real wackadoddle. I am 74 and was very concerned about walking him since he is very strong. After 2 weeks with Alan he response almost perfectly and I am no longer afraid. I also received good instructions so Norman and I learned together. Had a meeting with Alan after Norman was home for a week and he answered all my questions and even gave me more instructions for at home use. Would absolutely recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone who needs dog training.
