Dunmore Barks

Willow and I have taken private lessons with Rachel at Dunmore Barks, and she is amazing! Her knowledge, patience, and encouragement have helped so much with Willow’s reactivity. She takes the time to explain the “why” behind each exercise, gives us practical tools we can use in real life, and always makes sure we end each session feeling confident. We’re so grateful for her guidance and care, she truly goes above and beyond!

I can't say enough about Dunmore Barks! Our 3-year-old Labrador Charlie is a sweet girl and loves EVERYONE, but has a LOT of energy. Rachel did an incredible job of helping us find her "off switch" and taught us how to help Charlie regulate her energy and behavior -- both at home and at daycare. The difference in just a few weeks has been amazing. We were able to have a house full of people over the holiday weekend -- Charlie was so well behaved! Highly recommend Rachel and Dunmore Barks! We will be back for more classes in the future.

Where do I start? Any dog owner who is reading this understands how frustrating it can be sometimes to train our four-legged friends to have manners and listen to us. Rachel’s approach to training is the best I’ve seen by far—and I’ve worked with several trainers over the years across multiple dogs I’ve had the privilege of raising in my life. From the very first intake call, Rachel made me and my concerns in my dog’s behavior feel validated, seen, and understood. From our first in-person session, I could see that Rachel had crafted exercises to do with my dog (and also me) that directly addressed the issues I had flagged when initially reaching out. The follow-up from Rachel after each lesson is the icing on top of the cake. It can be hard to remember once you get home all of the things that you covered during your training session and Rachel addressed that wonderfully. She follows up with detailed notes from each session reviewing the exercises that were done, diving into the reasons they work and how they address dog’s natural instincts and even provides links to additional resources and products that you can use in your own time to continue working with your dog. I would recommend Dunmore Barks to anyone in the NEPA area who is looking to start a training journey with their four legged companion!
