Duck Dog Trainer

To say that I recommend Duck Dog Trainer is an understatement. When we first started looking at getting a Lab about a year ago, I did a bit of research for dog trainers: specifically obedience training. I have a disability that made personally training the dog difficult other than just potty training and such. I needed a dog that was sound on obedience training. Beginning of this year we found the best black lab puppy, our Scarlett. She stayed with my husband and I, as well as my 13 year old Shih Tzu, until she was about 6 months old when she went for training. Brian and Kyle were excellent on communication with me which was key since we are from Louisiana and they are in Texas. We even toured the area before leaving her. They have large grassy plots as well as multiple lake-like features. At all times I felt like my dog was getting good care. Our focus was on obedience with a few extra tasks thrown in to help me. We picked her up a couple weeks ago. My girl is healthy and happy, so I know she was not mistreated. Kyle is a dog whisperer of a trainer. Her obedience is on point. I have taken her into public situations that were hectic (the vet is always a good test too!), and she stayed true to her training which is a necessity for me. I am pleased with the results of Scarlett’s obedience training as well as her task training - she also got the duck training just in case my husband wanted to use her in the future. The communication and professionalism of those at Duck Dog Trainer was excellent, but the real worth is in the training my dog received. She is a well mannered (they work on kennel etiquette so she goes in and out without issue), obedient dog whose training I am able to rely on without fail. I recommend Duck Dog Trainer to anyone who is in need of obedience training for their dog of any breed; it has been invaluable to me.

We are very excited to have found Duck Dog Training. I am not a duck hunter so my review is geared more towards the obedience training. Kyle has been our trainer for most of our dogs for obedience as well as training a few dogs of ours for duck hunting. We have have taken our companion dog there as well for obedience training and we are VERY VERY PLEASED with the training our dogs have received. We have taken our dogs to visit and they are happy to see the trainers again. Kyle is very patient and gentle with the training. Our dogs listen and act on our command now instead of their own. Thanks Bryan and Kyle for giving us a happy home and not so chaotic anymore.

I carried my 7month old male lab to them in May for there beginner gun dog training and after only a couple weeks I could see a HUGE difference. He is now a year old and a hunting machine thanks to the training by Brian and Kyle. These 2 guys are great to deal with and there training programs and facilities are top notch. I have my other dog there now and Ace will be going back sometime after season to go through advanced gun dog training. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for training even if all you need is obedience. ( they do that too)

I've been told that you can tell a duck hunter's age by the number of labs he has owned. I recently purchased my 6th lab, which tells you everything you need to know. I trained my first 5 labs with varying success. After considerable research, I purchased #6 from Brian Johnson at Duck Dog Trainer. My new dog is 1 and 1/2 years old and already my best duck dog. Horrible experience with this guy . Took my dog at 6 months of age . Already had all the basic training skills done . Sitting fetching healing swimming . Never used electric collar . Told him that when took him and that i didn’t want it used . Well went to pick the dog up after 3 months . When i got there he put electric collar on the dog instintly got scared and fell to the ground . Bowed his head down the whole time , would go in the water to fetch . It was horrible experience. The dog has never over come the event .
