Drummond Ranch is a rustic ranch nestled into a spacious valley at the top of the Los Angeles National Forest. The focus of the owners and operators is the training of herding dogs of all breeds. While they are heavily invested in border collies which are some of the smartest and best herding dogs in the world, they work with many non-herding breeds as well. This is based upon the premise that dogs descended from wolves and the herding instincts that most dogs have come from the way wolves hunt. It is truly fun to see the variety of dogs who can herd and who love doing it. Janna and Paul have vast experience with herding and offer a safe and comfortable environment for people to let their dogs go to Heaven for a while chasing sheep and cattle. Their clientele includes serious dog handlers and trainers who have working dogs and thrive in sanctioned competitions. They also cater to a majority of dog centric, dog lovers who simply want to give their best friends a chance to work off some steam and get some serious exercise. The herding days are Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am to 12. Classes and instinct tests are first come, first serve, with the most herders choosing the weekend, so be prepared to wait your turn. If you have patience, the wait will be well worth it as your dogs will love every minute of it. We highly recommend Drummond Ranch for dog lovers. Happy herding!

The female owner is extremely bad at communication, thinking it appropriate to text after midnight. Then, doesn't follow through with the commitments made, even when the communication was clear and concise in written form on the part of the consumer. She couldn't even be bothered to be present at the time she said she would be, nor did she respond to the message sent confirming arrival. The male owner is a surly old man who has nothing better to do than be rude, not knowing anything about the conversations had prior to the TWO HOUR trek to get to the run down location.

I strongly advise against spending your money here. The main instructor was incredibly rude—not just to customers but also to his own coworkers. The entire place lacked organization, appointment times seemed to be rough estimates at best. We were left waiting for over an hour while staff prioritized working with their own dogs. The other instructor stood around chatting, completely ignoring the waiting customers. There was no shade, and the location is quite remote, making the wait even worse. If you care about your pets, I would not recommend coming here at all—unless your dog happens to be one of theirs who are used to the rudeness and lack of care.
