Dean at Double D Dog Training was fantastic to work with. From the beginning, he was very transparent and even recommended a colleague—whom we’d actually trained with before—because she was closer to us. That honesty really stood out and showed that he had our best interests in mind. Ultimately, I appreciated his patience in answering all my questions and his straightforward approach to fees and the training program, so I decided to move forward with him. My pup already knew the basics and a few tricks, but I was looking for help with her excitement around people—especially jumping, barking, and her anxiety around other dogs and loud sounds. At our first session, she surprised me by growling and barking at Dean, which is unusual for her. But with each session, we saw clear improvement. Dean gave me practical feedback on how to engage with her, how to play and walk with her more intentionally, and how to help her greet strangers calmly. After our final session today at the dog park, I was so proud to see her more confident, not startled by loud noises, and still responsive to my commands—even with distractions. Thanks to Dean, I feel more confident taking her around my sobrinos and bringing her with me more places. My 8 year old daughter and I recently got our first puppy together and I wanted her to take ownership of the training. If you have kids, you probably know that they often listen better to other people than their own parents. I hired Dean for this specific purpose of engaging my daughter and he did a fantastic job working with her and keeping her focused on the training and how important it is to raise a dog properly. He was very patient and kind but also knew when to be very direct on important matters so that my daughter would understand how big of a responsibility she has in how he behaves and develops. Dean was always on time and flexible with the specific scheduling requirements that we needed. Below is a picture of our 4 month old puppy in my daughter’s lap at the dentist showing how well behaved he is around people, even during events he has never been to before. Dean’s concepts and training methods work! If you are looking for a great dog trainer to help you get started out, I would highly recommend Dean!

Dean did a great job of training my pup Sadie and me. I include myself, because so much of the training was tweaking my responses and learning ways to redirect my dog. Having someone come to the house really helped with issues I don’t believe could have been addressed in a store or by being sent away for two weeks. Barking and jumping against the fence (and over the fence) has been dramatically reduced. Walking in the neighborhood with dozens of deer and other dogs was challenging. Now, I look forward to our walks. The “touch” command has been priceless! I highly recommend Dean and his methods of training.
