Dom's Dogs

I adopted my rescue Sadie in the spring. While a total love when it was just the two of us, she was terrified of other humans and believed that lunging at people and barking her head off was acceptable behavior. I tried different trainers and methods until I found Dom in the fall. After just our phone meeting, I knew I had found the right trainer. She was easy to talk to and gave me manageable expectations for how the next few months would go as Sadie learned discipline and how to behave in public. The difference in Sadie after just our first in-person session was night and day. She learned that when I gave her commands, it meant something! We learned to build a relationship based on accountability and trust – not just snuggles and food. By the time we did our first group class, Sadie wasn’t barking at the other people in class and even let people pet her – a first in the nearly six months since I got her. Not only did Sadie (and I!) learn a lot, but Dom was always available to answer questions, give recommendations and make everything seem totally doable. She did an extra session with other members of my family which put all of us at ease and has allowed my parents to dog-sit. My friends – and even total strangers at the dog park – comment all the time that Sadie is now a totally different dog. And that’s due to Dom! She’s also via the group classes introduced me to so many other dog owners who have various behavioral or training issues with their dogs. It’s a community that can swap stories, set up walks together, and work on training our pups together. I can’t say enough about how fantastic Dom was with Sadie and with me as we learn how to rehabilitate Sadie to her forever home. She’s a wonderful trainer and a wonderful person and I wish we could continue to work with her.

No exaggeration, working with Dom has changed my life. I’ve always been a dog person & helped train our pugs growing up, but I was not at all prepared for the challenges for a dog in pandemic city life. What’s amazing about Dom isn’t just the obedience skills she’s taught me, it’s the community she’s built. Through her personable nature, I feel like I was invited into a cool friend group - you literally are once you go to a group class! She’s taught me so much about dog behavior and communication - I’m able to read what’s going on with the dog anxieties at home and their interactions in the dog park. It’s seriously blown my mind! It’s clear that Domonique is someone who truly cares about everyone’s dogs. She uses a balanced style with both correction and praise, and adjusts to the dogs' (and my) needs really well. She also did a board and train that went above and beyond, the dogs had the best time and returned better behaved! They all love Amelia, Dom’s German Shepard, who sometimes helps with the classes, too. I’m so grateful to Dom, her training, and incredible ‘pack’. She’s helped me become much more confident in the park and overall.

Dom and her training methods have long been a godsend to me and so many of my more difficult fosters. But when I finally adopted a puppy of my own, I was not prepared for the challenges this new pup would bring (unruliness, loud barking, general sass). With Dom's help, me and my puppy are well on our way to establishing a clear and communicative relationship... I'm understanding more and more the behavioral psychology of my dog and how I can be the best human she needs me to be for her, and she's responded in kind by being a more content, confident and responsive pup. I'm so excited for who my puppy will grow to be, with Dom's help and guidance!

We have a rescue dog with severe anxiety issues. She is playful and loves to socialize with other dogs, but on the street she's afraid of almost everything. We first heard about Dom's training from friends at the dog run. Then, Dom completely impressed us when we met her in the park. She has been a fun and effective trainer for our dog, Lamb, as well as us! We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but we are more confident than ever that we'll be able to break through our Lamb's anxiety to find a brave, confident dog! We've done individual and group classes with Dom, and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trainer.

Working with Domonique was superb. She helped us understand and build a positive relationship with the new furry addition to our family. Her expertise, dedication to the care of pets, and proper training tools created the foundation for us teach our pup good behavioral habits. In addition to training, she offers pet sitting services! She stayed with our pup during a recent trip and Dominique would consistently notify us on Prince’s (our pup) well-being. An added benefit, she reinforced those training tools with our pup to make sure he stayed on track during his stay with her.
