Dogs and Kat

We rescued a GSD from a cemetery and he had some major reactivity issues - specifically when we were out walking or people came over to our house. I was really overwhelmed because I had never had a reactive dog before. I just felt like I had no idea what I was doing or how to help him. We signed up for the reactive rovers class and it was a game changer for both me and our dog. Tripp does an excellent job of setting the dogs up for success. You get to practice in a group environment while minimizing the chance for negative experiences. The reactive rover class gives you the tools to help pull your dog out of reactive habits. We still have a long way to go but today we were able to walk down my street, past two dogs who he noticed and he continued to focus on me anyways. No prong collar, no e-collar, and no dragging me on the leash. Neither of us could have done this without the skills we learned with Tripp.

I’ll be honest, I was a little skeptical about taking puppy classes. I thought anything I could learn in person, I could just as easily find online for free. But I was wrong. The classes at Dogs and Kat have been incredibly valuable, and the lessons I’ve learned have made a huge difference. The skills I gained here have been foundational in all the training I continue to do with my dog. I truly believe our progress in crate training, loose leash walking, and overall politeness is thanks to this class. By the end, I realized how many of the skills I learned could be transferred into everyday life. I’ve been able to teach my puppy to settle in her crate with less fuss (something I had struggled with on my own), to wait and sit instead of jumping on people, to sit at the door before leaving, to stay in place, to settle in public, and even to stay out of the kitchen while I’m cooking. And she’s only 5 months old! She might just be a smartie, haha, but I think it was really the simple, effective lessons I was given. The structured classes and hands-on guidance made all the difference, and the trainers were so patient and knowledgeable. I’m beyond grateful for the relief and reduced stress this course has given me, and I highly recommend it to all puppy owners....especially first-time dog parents. Not to mention, the trainers are incredibly kind and welcoming to all dogs!

I have done two different classes. I did the basic obedience for one dog and relaxed Rovers for the other. Basic obedience: this course was with Kat and it was GREAT! She is knowledgeable and compassionate to every situation. My first dog is nervous by nature and she really meets every dog where they are. My dog and I came out of the class more confident in how to work together. Highly recommend. We did relaxed rovers with Tripp for my second dog. She came to me with heartworm and was not socialized well. She was extremely reactive to other dogs and just the sight of them brought hackles and lunging on leash. This course was meticulously thought out to set every single dog up for success. Tripp taught me strategies to build upon to make sure that my dog became increasingly comfortable in the presence of other dogs. While I don't think she'll ever be dog comfortable and social like my first dog, she has become increasingly confident when we run into other dogs. Now she barely hackles and never lunges. All without the use of aversives. I will forever be grateful that this facility exists. If I still lived in the area I would book ALLLLLL of their courses to continue to learn.
