Doglingual Canine Training

Tamara has been so generous to help Agave Dogs Rescue both with our foster dogs and by offering a free initial session to our adopted dogs. Many rescue dogs have had no training at all and navigating training while they are in volunteer foster homes, immediately out of shelters can be challenging. Maddox (pictured) is a young herding breed who had very mouthy, rude behavior and Tamara was so helpful to come into his foster home to assist our volunteers. She offered guidance on how to work through these behaviors and with practice over time, Maddox went on to find a home that matched him perfectly! By offering a free introductory session to our adopters, Tamara has helped to adopted dogs remain in their homes rather than be returned to rescue. She's provided excellent support to new adopters when they might feel like returning the dog to rescue. Tamara also assists with large, working breed dog to dog introductions during meet and greets where we want to take extra steps to ensure the adopter's dog and our adoptable dog have a positive, safe, successful introduction. Tamara has spent hours assisting in this way and it's resulted in some of our bigger, more challenging dogs being placed in the correct homes. We so appreciate Doglingual caring about rescue dogs and volunteering in this way to help us ensure successful evaluations and placements of our adoptable dogs! And as a bonus, she is a super talented photographer who also lends her skill to photograph our adoptable dogs so they catch the eye of more potential adopters. Thank you Doglingual!

Cannot recommend enough! Tamara is actually the trainer who did the board and train for my dog Benny when she was in the shelter. When I adopted Benny she was fully crate trained, knew her basic commands, and will sit her for food. I am a new dog owner and was very inexperienced with how to adapt to having a very anxious and reactive dog. I live on a very busy and loud street with lots of things I now know can be triggering for her so I was really struggling on how to help her. There were incidents where I was getting very nervous and scared to walk her but after some refresher sessions with Tamara to help her to get back on track I am feeling so hopeful and confident. She is extremely knowledgeable and Benny loves her! I also board Benny with her when I go on trips and she always has an amazing time and I know she is well cared for which is a huge relief. Nothing but gratitude for her guidance and her love for Benny!

We took our dog Zeus in for BNT for a month,at first I was really nervous about the whole thing wondering if this could really help our family.Our dog was reactive every time we walk him everyone was absolutely terrified of him he pulls and he lunges at people walking him was absolutely the worst nightmare I have ever had. Today Tamara dropped him off and was very through and explained everything we should know about walking our dog and more.She is such a patient person and while Zeus was in her care she posted daily updates about how everything is going and the progress that they made. We had a little hiccup towards the end and that was Zeus had a irritating ear she offered to take Zeus to the vet to get checked up,to me that is going above and beyond to care so much about a clients dog as if they were their own. I feel like we have a totally different dog he is doing so well I’m honestly so happy.Definitely recommend dog lingual to any one.

I was so happy to have found Tamara after having negative experiences with two previous trainers. I have an 85 lb. male shepherd who was testing boundaries and causing chaos during adolescence. Tamara has given me the tools to appropriately lead my dog, set boundaries, and manage my expectations of him in certain situations. She's been critical in boosting my confidence as his handler - something that I really lost when 'positive-only' training was failing us. Because Tamara has experience with difficult dogs - especially working breeds - I knew she was going to lead us in the right direction. My bond with my dog has only improved since we met her. Tamara is knowledgeable, reliable, and is quick to reply via text. In addition, I've boarded my dog with Tamara at her home when we've gone out of town. He's always excited to see her, and is content and healthy when we pick him up. It's clear that she treats her client dogs with the same level of care that she does her personal dogs - and that's hard to find! I highly recommend Tamara to anyone looking for help with their dog.

We did a 6 week board and train for our sweet rescue dog, Loki. Loki is an about 5-years-old dog that had severe separation anxiety from abandonment from his previous owners. He is the sweetest dog and loves being around us but has difficulty elsewhere. He would get very stimulated easily and was not very good at listening. We could felt like we could never take him to dog parks or highly populated areas. Turns out old dogs can learn new tricks. After 6 weeks with Tamara, he came out the same sweet, loving dog but with so much more confidence, many new commands/tricks, and most importantly, an ability to cope with his separation anxiety. He became crate trained, able to recall easily, and much less reactive in crowded spaces. We've taken on hikes, to dog parks, and even food truck pods after hikes. We are shocked at how is well behaved he is. He gets so many compliments from strangers. Also Tamara, herself, is so easily to communicate, with and work with. She was professional, kind, and fun! One of our favorite things was she would post live updates on instagram almost daily. Even though 6 weeks can feel like a long time, we loved being able to watch him do the exercises and see his joy and progress. We loved seeing him on hikes and food truck pods. We couldn't recommend Doglingual or Tamara more!
