Doggy Geeks Dog Training

Beth and Mary both came to our home for a private session to help us with introducing our new puppy to our 10 year old male Akita, who was not adjusting well to our new male puppy. They gave us some great ideas and instructions on how to make this happen. None of it was complicated, but required us to be very consistent and patient. I’m very happy to report that after 5 weeks of following their instructions, both our dogs now get along fine, spend time together, play together, lay together, nap together. Our 10 year old Akita actually enjoys the puppy now.. and he seems to enjoy showing him the ropes. Beth and Mary clearly love what they do, and their gentle “reward based” way of training does indeed work. They are both very friendly and easy to work with. I would highly recommend them both.

Beth and Mary of Doggy Geeks are excellent, knowledgeable dog trainers who have made a huge difference in my German Shepherd puppy's life from the time she started hanging out at eight weeks old with other puppies to now as a big teenage girl at eight months old. Thanks to Doggy Geeks puppy socialization, training classes, and leash-walking adventures, Quinn is great with all sorts of people who she randomly meets on dog walks, shopping centers, or stores. She's still got a ton to learn (I need to keep up with her training), but she's attentive. In other words, Doggy Geeks has given her a solid, smart foundation for continuing to learn. Plus all the socialization sessions and classes have been really fun. Thus, I give Doggy Geeks (out of several other training options that I explored in the area) my highest recommendation.

My dog and I love Doggy Geeks and Beth Sautins because every class is taught with genuine compassion and with the desire to support the dog-person relationship. They expect dogs to be dogs. It's not embarrassing if my pup gets excited and barks in class -- it's normal dog behavior! Beth will work with you to help your dog be happy, to help achieve the types of behaviors you want, in real-life training scenarios.

These ladies know what's up! I did the 4 week basic class. They gave us 'homework' when we left to practice for the next class. They were super low key though about the homework (no pressure). They understand we all have lives/work/kids/etc. Honestly, I'd spend maybe 5-10 minutes a few nights a week practicing, and my pup would get it. It was all about the technique and 'high reward' treats. I also did a home session as I have a high energy pup that needed some special care. I have spent a little time working with him each week and he is getting so much better. If you're looking for positive reinforcement (shouldn't we all be) training, this is the place for you. Simple instruction that are totally doable. They will help you transform your dog and you'll create such a bond at the same time.
