Dogability Dog Training

I do not get online and post reviews unless the experience truly warrants it. Let me tell you: Working with Juan and his crew at Dogability was an amazing experience! To be honest we went back and forth on whether we thought the investment would be worth it. We rescued a dog that is protective of my family and he instigated two aggressive interactions with my neighbors' dogs. That kind of anxiety I do not wish upon anyone! We were left to believe that we would have to shelter our dog indoors and only play with him when others were not out. We had been going to Pet Wagon for over a year for daycare and were encouraged to talk to Juan about our situation and what efforts could be made to help mitigate the circumstances. Juan spent almost two hours discussing our dog's behavior with me and my wife. After learning of Juan's experience and philosophy on dog behavior we felt the decision was made and that we owed it to our dog Jennings to let Juan do his magic. We now have a dog that can be outside with other dogs and instantly responds to our commands. We understand that we must continue to work to maintain and improve this level of obedience but the foundation that Juan provided in incomparable. We witnessed dogs of all ages and psychological disorders see vast improvements with Juan's help. Thank you Juan, Gene and the rest of the Dogability crew!

Juan and his team are fantastic dog trainers. Not only are they experienced, but they also care very much about the pets that they take in during their one-month training. At the conclusion of the dog training, they provide an amazing, accessible, hands-on one-week follow-up training class for the owners ("training the trainer"). Juan even personally came to our house to work with our beagle Brewster and our two children. It really is true what Juan says --- Dogability is not a just a one-month class, they will be there to support you and work with you for as long as it takes. Prior to working with Juan and his team, we had already tried a different trainer with unsuccessful results. We were concerned that Brewster had been increasingly becoming more aggressive towards our two children, four years old and eight months old. The situation seemed hopeless. And you can imagine that I was a bit hesitant to spend even money on yet another trainer. But based on the recommendation of a friend, we decided to give Dogability (and our dog Brewster) a chance. And we are so glad that we did. As a result of his training, we have a much firmer understanding of dog behavior. Juan helped us to understand how Brewster was not a "bad" dog, but that through our years as owners we in fact enabled many of his "bad" behaviors. Juan does not teach "tricks", but instead, has a principled foundation for obedience training that allows us to communicate good and bad behaviors to Brewster. It's been a little less than a month and I can say without hesitation that Juan literally changed our lives. The results have been remarkable. Our lives are much less stressful now that we know how to manage and work with Brewster, and Brewster is much happier too. So if you feel that your situation is hopeless, don't give up just yet. Give Dogability a chance to work with you and your dog!

Our dog Zara just completed Dogability. She was a shy dog who had a few naughty behaviors and inconsistent leash manners even after basic obedience through another company. We had such positive experiences with the Pet Wagon that we were excited to try dogability. After a month, our dog was impeccably reliable on the leash and off. She gained a ton of confidence too. We love walking our dog through the neighborhood and going on runs. Juan and his team were very observant, supportive, and fun to work with.

I cannot say enough good things about Gene, Juan, Jen and the whole crew at Dogability!! My dog, Riggins, has now been through their puppy program and their next level formal loose leash/informal off leash program and has done private training sessions with Gene. Riggins is a Belgian Malinois, a breed known for being high drive and challenging, a breed that Gene and Juan just so happen to also work with extensively on a competitive and personal level. Though Riggins hasn't been a huge challenge on the Mal spectrum, he can be very nervous with other people and scenarios he isn't used to, but Dogability's work with Rigs has done wonders! Not only do they teach commands and instill lessons in your dog, but they also teach you the philosophies behind their methods and dogs' behavior. This enables you to understand how to communicate with the dog to ensure your future success even when trainers are not around to troubleshoot your issues. You will leave Dogability with heightened confidence and comfort in managing your dog in varying conditions and will have the tools necessary to continue building upon that confidence and the relationship and communication between you and your dog. You will also leave with a lifelong support system that will always be there to help you and your best friend remain happy, safe, and comfortable! I cannot thank or recommend Dogability enough for the amazing work they do and support they provide!!

Juan & Gene did such a great job with our first dog (a hound) that we had them train our second dog (a great dane). We are constantly approached by people and complimented on on their calm and relaxed behavior. Our dogs listen and obey commands immediately. We bring them everywhere (dinner, walks, car rides, trips, festivals, ect., ) with us and they are the best behaved dogs. I never worry about their behavior. Dogabilty not only teaches your dog proper behavior but they teach you, the owner, proper behavior with your dog. I only wish we had Gen & Juan train them as puppies.
