We ask families to practice 5–6 days a week for about 15–20 minutes a day, whether in your backyard, from Bountiful north to Ogden or during walks through Snowbasin Ski Resort. Question on Google
How does a diabetic alert dog detect low blood sugar?

Diabetic alert dogs are trained to recognize the unique scent changes that occur when a person’s blood sugar drops (hypoglycemia) or rises rapidly (hyperglycemia). Through scent imprinting and positive reinforcement, dogs learn to associate these chemical changes with specific alert behaviors—such as pawing, nudging, or sitting in front of their handler. With consistent training, many diabetic alert dogs can detect changes in blood sugar levels before symptoms appear—sometimes even earlier than a continuous glucose monitor (CGM). Our locally owned team specializes in diabetic alert dog training in Northern Utah, helping individuals and families live with greater safety, freedom, and peace of mind.

Question on Google
dog training help with fireworks anxiety during the Fourth of July?

Yes. Professional dog training can significantly reduce fireworks anxiety using desensitization techniques and structured obedience training. We gradually expose dogs to recorded firework sounds at low volumes while reinforcing calm behavior with rewards. Teaching commands like “place” and “stay” in a quiet, safe zone also builds a sense of security. Starting early gives your dog time to develop confidence before the noise begins. Our locally owned team offers personalized training in Northern Utah to help dogs stay calm and families feel at ease.

Our puppy training programs also include gentle behavior modification strategies for common issues like biting, jumping, and housebreaking. These dogs offer constant companionship and help regulate emotional responses by detecting early signs of stress. At Dog Training Elite in Northern Utah, we specialize in psychiatric service dog training tailored to real-world situations—helping you regain confidence, independence, and peace of mind. Question on Google
What’s the difference between a psychiatric service dog and an emotional support animal?

A psychiatric service dog (PSD) is trained to perform specific tasks that mitigate a diagnosed mental health disability, such as waking someone from night terrors or creating space in crowds. Emotional support animals (ESAs) provide comfort through their presence but do not have the same legal public access rights or task training. At Dog Training Elite in Northern Utah, we focus on task-based training for PSDs that empower our clients with PTSD and related conditions to navigate life with greater stability and security.

Training not only sharpens obedience—it also helps keep senior dogs active, engaged, and in shape. Our programs are customized to match your dog’s learning style, physical ability, and personality—whether we’re working in your backyard, a local park like West Bountiful City Park, or favorite spots in Davis and Weber Counties.

Question on Google
How do I pick the right dog for PTSD service work?

The best PTSD service dogs are calm, confident, attentive, and eager to learn. While breed isn’t everything, we often recommend Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and Poodles due to their temperament and trainability. At Dog Training Elite in Park City, we conduct temperament testing and offer professional guidance to help match individuals with dogs that meet the physical, emotional, and task-based demands of psychiatric service work. Whether you’re in Summit County, or anywhere in Park City, our locally owned team is here to support your journey with personalized service dog training.

I am very pleased with the results from having our puppy attend Dog Training Elite. I honestly was hesitant at first because our pup can be a lot to handle and I didn't think she'd adjust to being okay with being away from home during the week training sessions. However, the staff accommodated her wonderfully, loved her as if she were their own dog and I'm amazed by how well mannered and trained she is now!!! I highly recommend them. Very polite, professional and above all kind to your beloved pet.

Dog Training Elite Northern Utah Training Center, has the greatest trainers. They are compassionate. understanding, and loves your pet. Melachi (mini Ausie) worked beautifully with the trainers. On a side note: We used them when they use to be Elite. John was our trainer and he helped me train our Ausie Barrion to be my mothers service dog. He was wonderful and loved Barrion. I would recommend DTENUTC to anyone who would like to have their pets trained. Our pictures This Melachi, and taking a nap after a training session LOL.
