At the first training session, the e collar was explained to me as an attention grabber, like a tap on the shoulder or, on a higher setting, a shake on the shoulder, and that it in no way can harm my dog. However, after a few days of practicing what the trainer taught us, my dog started yelping in pain, shaking uncontrollably, excessively salivating, tucked his tail between his legs, and refused to come to us. Even without the collar on, he now becomes visibly terrified when anyone says "come" or "off" near him. I do not consider that "sulking" as it is phrased on the paper we got from the trainer. After seeing my dog so afraid, I used the collar on myself and if that is what my dog is feeling, this form of training is completely inhumane. At a setting of 15, it was painful even for me, so I can not imagine how an even higher shock felt for my dog. I refuse to torture my best friend for the sake of "good manners". I am very displeased with the lie that the collar would not hurt my dog. It is going to take a lot of work to get him to be okay with hearing the words "off" and "come" again and it breaks my heart that I unknowingly inflicted such pain on him. We adopt dogs to love them, not hurt them. I have also never heard back from this company since terminating training. No apology, no questions, no explanations, nothing. UPDATE: Reese is doing great, thank you for asking. We found a different trainer who Reese adored. He worked hard with him and never hurt him. As for reaching out, all of what I shared above occurred after his toe had healed, therefore, you absolutely did hear from me several times. To schedule his initial training session, when the trainer came over the first time, when I called to schedule his next training session, and when I called to terminate his training. I stated on the phone that I sent an email detailing why I was terminating the training and I was told that a manager would look into it. I never heard another word.
