Have really enjoyed working with Donny and team both individually and in group classes with our Aussie. Dog Training Elite put together a customized plan to work on Badger’s areas to improve and her behavior is sooo much better. Donny was available both in and out of session to answer questions and encourage us when things were tough. Lately, Badger has been joining the Saturday group classes to continue to socialize and grow. We couldn’t be happier with the results and wholeheartedly recommend DTE for your dog.

The services provided did not meet our expectations. It took several days to receive a response, and they were unable to fulfill our specific training requests. For instance, we were hoping to train our dog to signal when he needed to go outside, similar to how my brother's dog rings a bell at the door. Unfortunately, they couldn't accommodate this request. We also sought guidance on how to address chewing behavior and help the dog differentiate between their items and ours, but we didn’t receive effective solutions. Their suggestion was that it’s the owner’s responsibility to predict when their dog needs to go out and, if they can’t supervise the dog closely, to kennel it instead of providing training. This approach felt unrealistic, as I don’t see myself as either a mind reader or a prison warden. Our aim is to provide training that supports the dog and tools for us to communicate. The search for a suitable trainer continues. UPDATE REPONSE: Hi Donny, Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate that you are passionate about your work and care deeply for the dogs you train. However, I want to clarify a few points. First, my review was intended to reflect our specific experience and the needs we discussed during our conversations. Secondly, at no point in time did I describe my dog as stubborn or not potty trained. I described a want to learn how to better communicate with my dog. While I understand that dog training includes a level of human involvement, my expectation was for more tailored advice regarding the training we were seeking—particularly training techniques like bell-ringing for bathroom signals and addressing how to communicate better for which items were our dogs’. These were areas we hoped to get more support on, and unfortunately, we didn’t feel the offered advice met those expectations and were met with unrealistic solutions. This is important information for future potential clients as this approach does not align with every person. The “prison keeper” comment was in reference to the suggestion of constant kenneling instead of training the behavior, which felt restrictive in comparison to the training methods we were seeking. Many experts advise against kenneling as a form of punishment, and this approach could cause that relationship for the dog. That being said, I certainly didn’t mean to imply anything negative about crate training in general, but rather to express my surprise at the approach suggested to us. Lastly, my review was not intended to be retaliatory but an honest reflection of my experience. I believe transparency helps other potential clients make informed decisions based on their unique needs. Before Donny and DTE Austin while walking my dog Khalifa if I saw another dog coming towards us, I would move into a driveway or a yard to let them pass.
