Dog's Best Friend Training

Our behavioral trainer is amazing and we saw positive progress with our first session. My little 10 year old rescue is extremely nervous, anxious, fearful & reactive around EVERYTHING outside, yet he is very sweet & lovable in conditions where he feels safe. Shannon's suggestions & knowledge have opened the door to a bright, happy future & the quality of life that my little guy deserves. I can't say enough great things, miracles happened with our first session!!!! We have a game plan and goals and we are moving forward with lots of fun homework. I have opted to continue behavioral sessions for a while & use Shannon's expertise to make sure I get the right/solid foundation in place to ensure long term results for my little guy. I highly recommend this specialized training!

We chose Dog's best FriendTraining because we had followed Patricia McConnell's positive reinforcement training approach with our first GSD via books and DVDs. It worked so well for us, we decided to attended Puppy II with our two GSD puppies. Aimee and Julie were wonderful instructors, putting lots of energy into classes and taking time to work individually with each puppy. I sincerely appreciate that Dog's Best Friend isn't simply an obedience class, but helps you develop a relationship with your dog through learning to understand each other. We look forward to taking more classes in the future!

I have a one-year-old Boston Terrier who's extreme timidness seemed to be turning into reactive aggression. After signing up for training with a local company who relies heavily on e-collars I was having my doubts and was concerned I wasn't making the right choice. I called Dog's Best Friend at the recommendation of a colleague and am so grateful I did. Without speaking negatively of their competition, they took the time to chat, understand the issues, and provide education. I was so taken with their knowledge and approach that I immediately scheduled an appointment with Shannon at Dog's Best Friend then cancelled the other trainer. Our first lesson was only yesterday, and I know this sounds too good to be true, but we're already noticing a difference. After chatting in length about our dog's history, Shannon explained in great detail what she felt was leading to our dog's unwanted behavior, and it all made perfect sense. We practiced a few things and Shannon showed us in real-time how to handle certain situations. She then assigned homework, which our dog has been eagerly completing and excelling at. We're now armed with so much more knowledge about the issues plaguing our pup, and how to best handle them. I normally wouldn't be so quick to write a review, but we just got back from the dog park and our terrier's demeanor towards people and other dogs was night and day. On leash is mostly when we see her unwanted behavior. At the dog park she's always well-mannered but typically ignores other people and dogs and does her own thing. Tonight she sought out other dogs and PLAYED. Actual, friendly, worry-free, dog play. She hasn't done that in months. I'm beyond thrilled, and can't wait to continue training. My apologies for the dissertation of a review; I'm just very pleased. I would definitely recommend Dog's Best Friend :)
